I’m Raians (or Ryan), an Australian born citizen of Latvia. After 5 years of running my own business (mostly online) I am travelling again and looking forward to connect with new people, learn new things and contribute how I can (hopefully physical tasks where I can get my hands dirty, my favourite).

My natural qualities are diligence, perseverance, and will, and I aim to always be enthusiastic, optimistic and focused.

I love physical work, whether carrying firewood (or anything heavy) or digging, or my favourite is construction. I was one of the main construction guys in the retreat centre I worked in, and this is still one of my favourite jobs I’ve had. I've had experience welding steel and aluminium (mostly using MIG/MAG) and enjoyed both greatly, so in 2026 I will be settling in Europe and beginning a career welding.

My other core passion and what I’ve been lucky enough to support myself by teaching for the last 5 years is Spiritual Practice. I am a disciplined practitioner, spending a few hours a day on the mat practicing traditional Hatha Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama. I’m always happy to share about my practice and talk about the philosophies of Yoga as Union, Dzogchen and Non Dual Shaivite Tantra.

I love my quiet time, but also enjoy deep chats on the nature of reality or cooking and sharing a nice meal. I love to see, and sometimes, to make art. When I go exploring I love to visit historical places, especially those of worship or devotion, and connect to nature (hiking, freediving, cycling & motorcycling).

Native English speaker and fluent in Spanish (though a Costa Rican rather than Spanish accent) I also speak/understand bits of Portuguese, Thai and French. I love learning languages and look forward to picking up more.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I’ve done lots of jobs over the years and accumulated a pretty varied skill set:
-Welding: experience in MIG/MAG with steel and aluminium. Skilled in fabrication, grinder use, etc. Some experience with stick and a little with TIG.
-Construction: handyman in Retreat Centre (3 years), very comfortable with gypsum, plastering, painting including freehand edging, wooden construction, tiling, concrete, brickwork, basic electrical.
-Nursing: Adaptability, shift work, safety, working in multidisciplinary team. (4 years)
-Retreat Centre: Grounds care & gardening support, operational support, serving guests. During retreats often helped in the kitchen, my main roles were managing the dining hall/guest experience and caring for the hot tub fires. (1.5 years)
-Kitchen: Several years in traditional kitchen environments (4 years) & supporting kitchen in catering (2) & retreat centre context (1.5), food prep, cleaning.
-Digital & Communication: Computer literate, experience with social media promotion and experience and passion for filming and editing promotional video.
-Yoga & Meditation: 200hr yttc Ashtanga & Vinyasa, deep knowledge of traditional Hatha Yoga (studying & serving 4 years in Ashram), Pranayama & Meditation, 5 years teaching & 14 years practice experience.
-Logistics: Warehouse & delivery driver work. (4 years)
-Thai Massage: Thailand trained masseur with 7 years work experience. Basic & Advanced (therapeutic/sports massage) courses completed.
