Hi there!
My name is Kate, and I am a 19 year old girl born, raised, and living in beautiful Adelaide, Australia. When I was in year 2 at school, I did a project on Iceland, and since then, I have been absolutely obsessed. It honestly feels like part of my heart is in Iceland, despite the fact I have never been there (yet!), and for as long as I have had a phone and a bedroom to my self, pictures of Iceland's incomparable landscape have been on the home screen of my phone and on the wall next to my bed. I've even done my best to try and learn little bits of Icelandic through various apps and YouTube videos, although, there are very few quality resources online, so I definitely want to learn as much of the language as possible when I am in Iceland.
Although I definitely hope to travel the world one day, currently I am only interested in workaways in Iceland. I am not fussed as to where in Iceland my workaway hosts live, or what responsibilities they might have for me - I will truly do anything to fulfil my dream. In saying that, I love kids, and have lots of experience working with kids professionally, as a junior volleyball coach, and employee at Build a Bear Workshop, meaning I have completed lots of training in terms of child safeguarding, and I have all of my Australian clearances to work with kids. I also frequently babysit for friends, from infants to primary school-aged kids, meaning I am proficient in bathing, changing nappies (diapers), feeding (bottle or spoon feeding), and playing with and entertaining kids.
I also really enjoy cooking, and would love to cook for your family. It would be an honour to introduce you to some of my favourite Australian meals, and hopefully learn some classic Icelandic recipes too! I am also competent at any other household tasks you might need assisting with - laundry, dishes, gardening, cleaning, mopping, vacuuming etc. - and will do anything I can to relieve you of any of these menial tasks and responsibilities to make your life easier!
I am currently studying English and Philosophy at university, and would hopefully like to spend my time in Iceland during the Australian Summer university break (January and February). Ideally, I would also spend around 6-8 weeks in Iceland, so I have ample time to experience the culture, hopefully learn some of the language, and if you have kids, have plenty of time to bond with them.
