Hello! Hola! 🙂

my name is Karo and I am from the Czech Republic (Prague / Praga) 🇨🇿

I am new to the WorkAway community, but I have participated on many similar projects before. I spent approx. 5 years travelling/working/volunteering in different parts of the world: Ecuador, Perú, Colombia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Canada, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands and many other EU countries.

It was very intense and I am sincerely grateful for all those enriching experiences. At one point, however, I felt like I needed to settle down a little bit. I stayed in Prague (the Czech Republic) for 4 years where I was working as a translator, then later in HR, and my last job was at a company that provides psychotherapies & mental health care.

I am interested in health & well-being (both physical/mental), psychology, alternative medicine (I will be studying Acupuncture from November 2023), nutrition, herbs and self-development.

🏠 I would like to find a place where I can help with general maintenance, housework, cooking (especially vegetarian/plant-based) and anything related to tourism/travellers, as I know very well what it is like to be one of them. 🙂

I am extroverted and enjoy being around people - especially in international environments. It might sound like a cheesy cliché, but I really do consider myself to be a genuinely open-minded and kind person who always tries to listen/understand when talking to others.

I'm currently taking a break from my work life and I feel that Spain is where I would like to be now. 🇪🇸 I feel a close bond with the country and have many good Spanish friends/connections.

🇬🇧 English: C2 level (proficient)
🇪🇸 Spanish: A2/B1 level (communicative/intermediate)

⏰ I am flexible and basically free from the end of June until October.
I believe I will find a good match here on WorkAway, as I am only contacting projects that somehow "call" me.

My native tongue is Czech, however, I grew up speaking English, too. My English is at C2 level and I used to work as a translator. This was something I really enjoyed, especially translating books related to habit formation and neuroplasticity of our brains.My Spanish is at A2/B1 level - I am able to have a basic conversation and understand a lot. I spent half a year in Latin America, half a year in Spain and I am in a regular contact with Spanish, as I have many Spanish-speaking friends. Creo sinceramente que el español es la lengua más bonita del mundo y me encantaría mejorar mi conocimiento :-)
