Hello (future) friends!

Im Javariyah, although i usually go by Java (like the island :). I'm a British-Pakistani, who's been working and studying in Vienna for the last few years.

I've just completed my Masters in Digital Economy in Vienna, and I've been working in the 'data delivery' field for the last 2 years, so if you need any help in the digital department, I'd be of some use :)

I have little knowledge of gardening/farming, but this is something I am very passionate about and determined to learn. I view Climate Change and capitalism as very real threats to our planet and I want to dedicate a good portion of my time and resources to cultivating invaluable farming skills. I'm very interested in getting to learn more about sustainable farming techniques and permaculture etc. I'm a fast learner and I would come into this with a lot of dedication.


I'm a native English speaker, and I've spent some time in Pakistan teaching English to non-native speakers so I feel equipped to take on a teaching role as well. Not to mention that I grew up with four younger siblings who I (unwillingly at the time) had to tutor.

I'm fluent in English, Urdu/Hindi and Punjabi and would be very happy if someone is interested in learning :)

I have a year of experience in hospitality/bartending - I would be happy to help in this direction too, if needed/wanted.

I'm a pretty good cook and baker as well :) I can introduce you to lots of Pakistani dishes that you may not have tried before!


I’m joining Workaway because I want to connect with people and movements that are rooted in community. I love the idea of sharing my skills, picking up new ones, and creating great memories together — whether that’s helping out with a hands-on project, organizing activities, or swapping stories over a home-cooked meal. I’m happiest in multicultural, collaborative environments where there is always space for growth and mutual learning.

Oh, and a fun fact — I’m a very fast knitter/crocheter. Give me a few days and I can whip up a sweater from scratch! I like to work with sustainable/secondhand materials and sometimes participate in handmade markets (see photos)!

I come with a diverse skill set I've unintentionally curated over the years, but hope it will be of some help :)

Economics / Finance / Digitalisation:
• 2 years in digital banking
• Bachelor’s in Accounting & Finance Master’s in Digital Economy
• Enough experience to help you "crunch some numbers"

Hospitality:
• 1 year as a bartender at an Irish Pub
• Polite, and people-oriented
• Solid customer service experience
• Enjoy cleaning, welcoming guests, and creating fun activities

Animal Care:
• Dog-sitting and general pet care
• Making sure furry friends are happy and well looked after

English Teaching:
• Experience helping people improve their English
• Patient, encouraging, and supportive
