Beschreibung
Hi, I’m Yu Ji. I grew up in a children’s home with other kids from difficult backgrounds. I didn’t really have the freedom most young people have... no traveling and not much choice in where I could go. Because of that, the urge to explore the world slowly became a big part of who I am.
I also remember how excited I’d get whenever volunteers from outside came in teaching us, spending time with us, sharing their experiences. A part of me always wanted to be out there too, doing the same for others. Those moments shaped me more than anything else.
Throughout my years there, I was exposed to leadership camps, volunteer camps, survival camps, and community activities. I think that’s where my love for helping out, learning, and being part of something bigger than myself really started. So travelling, for me, isn’t just about sightseeing — I’ve always felt drawn to travel with a purpose, to contribute, and to meet people from all walks of life.
I’ve been working in the film production industry for nearly five years now. It taught me resilience, creativity, teamwork, long hours, and staying calm when things get chaotic. And now that I’m 24, I feel this is the right moment to finally take the step I’ve been dreaming about since I was a teenager... to volunteer around the world while I’m still young, energetic, and open.
I want to experience different cultures not just as a visitor but as someone who helps, contributes, and becomes part of the community. I’d love to give back in the same way others once gave to me.
I’m a friendly, easygoing person who enjoys nature, learning new skills, meaningful conversations, and just being part of a team. If I can help, I will. If I can learn something new, even better.
Looking forward to connecting with hosts, sharing stories, and hopefully doing some good along the way.

Yes I'm interested in both learning and teaching languages. I speak English and Malay fluently, and I’m happy to help anyone who wants to learn basic phrases or conversational practice. I also enjoy picking up new languages when I travel, even simple greetings or everyday phrases. I feel language is one of the best ways to connect with people and understand their culture on a deeper level. So if you’re open to teaching, I’m definitely open to learning!

Was könntest du arbeiten?
I’ve been in the film production industry for almost five years, and I started young. I was thrown into a lot of chaos early on... long days, tight deadlines, unexpected problems. but I learned to adapt, stay calm, and work my way up. Over time I found my ground and eventually became a producer, where I now lead teams, manage projects, and hire new talent.
I’ve never seen production as “just work.” For me, it was like the university of life haha. It taught me almost everything I needed to survive...how to communicate, how to read people, how to solve problems, how to stay resilient, how to take responsibility, and how to work with all kinds of personalities. The industry matured me quickly, and I’m grateful for that.
Because of the environment I grew up in, I’ve always believed in treating people the way I wished someone treated me when I was starting out. So I try to create a working environment that’s fair, patient, and supportive, especially for newcomers.
My work has made me comfortable with:
* Leadership and teamwork
* Organizing people and tasks
* Problem-solving under pressure
* Managing schedules and responsibilities
* Communicating clearly and respectfully
* Being adaptable when plans change
Outside of work, I enjoy simple, hands-on things. One unexpected skill I picked up is cutting hair. I cut my dad’s hair, and I try to make time to cut the boys’ hair at the children’s home. I attempted to cut my own hair once, failed miserably, and decided to just grow it out instead (probably for the best).
I can also help with:
* General housekeeping and cleaning
* Basic maintenance or small fixes
* Gardening and outdoor tasks
* Cooking simple meals
* Photography / videography
* Creative projects or content creation
* Helping with guests or community activities
I love learning new skills, and I’m always open to any task. If I don’t know how to do something, I’ll learn it with a good attitude.

I enjoy staying active, especially through sports. I surf (still learning!), and I also play tennis, football, and ping pong. At work, we even have a competitive scoreboard for ping pong... things get serious in a fun way.
I love anything that gets me moving: exploring new places, outdoor activities, or trying a new sport. I’m still trying to make peace with heights tho haha.
I’m always open to learning new card/board games. Whenever someone introduces one in my friend group, I get excited about it.
Overall, I enjoy being around people, staying active, and picking up new skills or hobbies along the way.
