I am passionate about learning new things about the world and myself. I traveled six wonderful months in Canada with Workaway and now I am excited to explore Europe!

Beschreibung

I am a kind and enthusiastic young woman, and for the last couple of years, it has been my dream to see the world through Workaway. In the summer of 2023 I graduated from my study Applied Psychology in Amsterdam and received my bachelor's degree. I can now call myself officially an 'Applied Psychologist' :) In my study, I learned a lot about coaching, counseling and helping people with the things they go through in life. And I also learned a lot about myself and the things I experience in my own life. I have a great passion for horses and my big dream is to work with people and horses as an Equine Assisted Therapist. The TV series 'Heartland' (filmed in Canada) has been a big inspiration during my life. The last six months I made my dream of going to Canada a reality and I traveled as a workawayer to different places in Canada. It was a great journey!

As a child, I traveled a lot with my parents and younger sister. We often went to Spain, France, and Portugal and even lived there for a few months when I was little. I learned to
walk on the cobbles of a northern Portuguese mountain village. These early experiences abroad certainly have been of great significance in my life. Seeing great happiness in the little things is something that I learned as a child and this has always stayed with me. In all these long en short trips together, I gained a lot of insight into the world and myself. When we are in another country we are always looking for the local, simple life. No big resorts, pools, or amusement parks for us. We are genuinely happy with coffee and tea (for me :) ) in the local cafes and discovering the adventures, big and small, right in front of us.

I am from the Netherlands so if people are interested, I can teach Dutch. I can speak English on a good fluent level. The last six months I stayed in Canada as a workawayer and I loved to speak the language on a daily basis with native speakers. When I was in high school, I was good at French and German , but now my knowledge has faded away a bit. I would like to refresh - and relearn ;) - my Spanish, Portuguese, French and German language skills.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

In my study Applied Psychology, I learned a lot about coaching and counseling - helping people with their life problems and goals. During my years as a student, I also worked behind my laptop, relying on my head: writing, reading en researching. But for my coming Workaway adventures I would like to work more with my hands and my heart.

I love nature and being outside, walking with the dog, cycling, and hiking. Horseriding is my big passion, I started as a child and still take lessons every week. But it is my dream to be around horses every day. I am very interested in horsemanship and western riding and I would love to learn more about this and develop my connection with and understanding about horses.

I also like to work in the garden, nurturing vegetables, flowers, and plants. The last three summers, me and my family (parents and sister) did a house sit in France via 'Nomador'. We looked after the house, garden, and animals for a few weeks while the owners were on vacation. I really enjoyed this experience, it gave me a lot of inspiration. It is nice to connect with people abroad and learn about their visions and daily life.

From October 2024 till March 2025 I did six different Workaways in Canada. I had the great opportunity to expand my skills, learned a lot about taking caring of animals, doing outside work and gardening. I am open to keep learning!

Other interests and skills: I love cooking healthy meals, baking, being creative (drawing and crafting), lots of reading, and doing yoga and meditation.
