My name is Carson and I'm 26 years old from the United States. For the past 8 months I have been living in Samara, Costa Rica where I own and operate a small beach hostel. We recently hired managers to take care of operations for the hostel during rainy season and I wanted to take the time to travel the world and volunteer to make a difference along the way. I am hoping to work in schools, non profits or community based projects but am open to almost anything. Making other people smile motivates me and brings me happiness. I love people and relationships and value hard work balanced with life and enjoying the simple things. I love nature and love any activity that can be done outside. I enjoy communities and learning the story’s of individuals. I am motivated by other humans and the power we have to get things done together! Having run a hostel in Central America, I know what hard work means and what it's like to get your hands dirty. I also know how to take the time after work is done to appreciate and enjoy the people and place around you that help make a job a reality.

I have taken Spanish my whole life but never quite crossed the line to fluent. Living in Costa Rica I improved greatly and definitely feel I can communicate but grammar is still rocky. I would love to get better at Spanish while also helping others with English if applicable!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have worked a plethora of jobs with ranging skills needed. When I was in high school I worked at a clothing store for 4 years and gained hands on communication and people skills. In college I worked as a hostess, bartender, etc. I understand working in the service industry and how to work with customers. Over the summers I worked internships mostly in the corporate business world which I learned a wide array of skills. Many of my internships did not have much direction so I had to learn to be effective with my time and help my companies without being hand held by employees. Most of my roles incorporated some form of sales or working with people and business development. I am great at communication as well as organization. After college I worked at Dell Technologies for 3 years in marketing and strategic partnerships. I have learned to be extremely adaptable and how to productively get tasks done with the correct priorities. I am always happy to help an organization with their business strategies. LASTLY and maybe most importantly, in August of last year, myself, along with 2 other people
purchased a hostel business in Playa Samara, Costa Rica. I moved to Samara mid September and was the sole operator through April. During my time I worked with our own workaway team to fix, construct, paint and develop the hostel in MANY ways. The amount I learned in the past 8 months has greatly outweighed anything I learned in the corporate world previously. I could talk about the hostel for pages so hopefully you are interested in learning more about my experience and having me help you're team. If so, I can dive even deeper into the skills I've taken from running a hostel in Central America. Outside of work I believe in giving back to the community and being as kind as one can be. I can communicate in Spanish and it is not perfect but I am working to improve. I love talking to people and I like to think I bring the skill of making people smile but am also humble with my interactions :)

Was noch ...

I love any and all board games and card games! My favorites are Catan, Hanabi and Spades. I love the outdoors and being in the water or hiking is my happy place :) I also love rock climbing, yoga and playing volleyball, soccer or new games for fun. I am very easy going and always down to learn a new activity. I also am a big fan of great food and good music old and new! Lastly, one of my favorite past times is reading and LOVE discussing books as well!
