Aloha!
I am Laura, originally from Germany and currently living in Austria. Fresh out of my studies in nutrition science, I've decided to take a detour from the traditional path and try something different instead of jumping straight into a full time-job. My parents taught me the value of exploring new places and meeting people, so I'm all about adventures! Growing up I've traveled to several African countries, working on farms, helping with constructions, assisting in kitchens, riding horses, and being an au pair for two little children. Volunteering on a local farm, I found joy in helping children form deeper connections with nature and animals, creating memorable experiences during their parents' workdays. I've cherished every opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with people. Meeting a new person and understanding their way of life is so inspiring to me.
Friends often describe me as sporty and outdoor-loving, always seeking the next adventure and eager to learn something new.
I'm super excited about Workaway and the chance to bring my positive energy and skills to new communities as an easily adaptable and dedicated individual. Looking forward to the possibility of joining your adventure!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I've gained considerable experience working with children through roles as an au pair and babysitter in my hometown. Additionally, I worked as a trampoline trainer and horse assistant, and volunteered on a local farm where I cared for children during holidays and some weekdays, playing, doing handicraft or teaching them the right acquaintances with animals. My responsibilities as well included tending to various animals such as horses, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, and pigs. Tasks ranged from feeding and cleaning stables to playing, training, and engaging in ground work activities to enhance their coordination.

My passion for nutritional science, where I finished my Bachelors degree this year, led me to explore health and nutrition, allowing me to optimize various parameters to promote the well-being of individuals.
With a background in the catering industry, I've developed resilience and adaptability, honing my ability to work precisely and efficiently even under high-pressure situations.
I also assisted at a guest lodge with tasks such as room service, which involved cleaning, making beds, and preparing rooms for new customers and preparing breakfast as well as dinner in the kitchen.

Having worked on a farm in Namibia, I gained a foundational understanding of farmwork (construction work, rebuilding fences) recognizing that each farm has its unique principles and rules. However I am eager to contribute my skills and support in any area, drawing on my diverse experiences and enthusiasm for making a positive impact.

I'm fluent in both German and English, but I'm working on building more confidence and expanding my vocabulary in English. I'm also in the process of learning French, even though my proficiency is at a basic level. Nonetheless, I enjoy the learning, and that's what matters to me :).
