Aloha!

My name is Drea and I am currently home in Hawai'i! I have been mostly solo traveling for the last 5 years or so but I have been taking a break to spend time with family this past year. I've visited many US states and have been to 13 different countries so far, with a long list of more to come!

I just finished massage school and now waiting to take my license exam to settle into a new but flexible career of healing. I'm hoping to take some time off to travel in the meantime and explore my other passions, such as pilot school.

I really enjoy being away from all the busy crowds. I was born and raised in Hawai’i but my heart wants to keep exploring what the world has to offer. I love to connect with communities and enjoy participating in activities people in the area grew up doing. I am happiest when I get to explore on my own and try new things with new friends.

I am completely open to trying and learning new things everywhere I go. Recently, my focus has been on learning everything I can to help people through massage, building confidence in myself, and gaining regular clients. I have been finding my passion in helping / connecting with others through this field, and I hope to share what I have learned with the people I meet.

My long-term goal would be to massage and fly small planes in both Hawai'i and Alaska while taking time off for international travels in between. I hope to meet a lot of kind, amazing people around the world and help where I can while learning new skills along the way!

I have worked many jobs including restaurant, front desk answering phones, driving, extermination, delivery, computer work etc. I am open to learning nearly anything and I am extremely adaptable to learn efficiently. I don't mind working either indoors or outdoors especially if it is a combo of both. I also love working directly with people and prefer to work outdoors if it is not too much sun exposure.

I have taken on countless jobs in the states that required me to learn from the beginning so I am confident that I can learn anything!

I love to be outdoors and I love to see clear goals/expectation in current projects that I'll be helping with.

I prefer not to work with children but it is okay for short amounts of time and not in classroom settings.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Join us at our tiny village ...)

I stayed here a few months ago for about three weeks but I finally have time to write a long review.

This was my first workaway experience and first time solo traveling out of country! I felt so welcomed and safe coming to this place even as a young solo female traveler. I got to meet so many fun volunteers along with getting to know how the … read more locals really live in the small town. Pantila and Mae nai are such lovely humans. They really care about helping the villigers and getting us to explore. The other host who goes by the name buddy was a trumendous help in showing us around and getting us involved in the activities in the area! I highly reccommend using the bikes given as there so much hidden gems in this town. The sunsets are gorgeous and I know I will be back in town again for two months next year.

I was part of the first set of volunteers that came after they had just opened up this place again from being shut down during covid so I know they use to have a lot going on before then. Their main focus seemed to be social media work to bring people in, teaching english to stay afloat in business, and figuring out how to stucture everything with volunteers returning to help again. It has so much potential! I will be coming back to see how much progress has been made on the area in a year and will visit but primaraily focus on my muay thai training.

I'm extremely thankful for my authentic thai experience here as it is very simple and traditional. I got to practice speaking thai everyday and even immersed myself in the local muay thai gym by going every other day. I spent the majority of my time and focus practicing muay thai here. That is where I found the most joy here and the reason I will be coming back thanks to the hosts for introducing me to the group! The small town of San Pa Tong has a lot to offer and I will be back to explore/train more! I started a journal here of tips by volunteers for volunteers so if you see it please add to it and/or message me for any advice! I also donated my hammock as tribute for the hosts and other volunteers to enjoy before I left so please use that as much as possible :)

Take in the slow pace of the place and really try to get to know the locals. They are all super kind and extremely talented in their work so try to support them as much as possible! Find one thing that you really enjoy here and keep that as your focus while volunteering. For me it was muay thai, for my friends here it was the cafes along with the markets being a huge highlight! This place isn't for everyone but it is the perfect to get away from all the tourist and a chance to slow down a bit. There is a lot of work to be done but find ways to make this the most meaningful experience for not only you but leaving that path for other volunteers to follow /keep helping in the most efficient way.

Drea is a great person. She is a quiet but does have a lot to contribute with when she open up. She is practical and I never doubted her in any way.
