Hi! We are Alyss and Ben and are both 24 years old, living in Sheffield, England. Currently, we work within hospitality doing bartending, waitressing and hosting. We are looking to travel around Italy for the summer working with different families and meeting new people whilst doing jobs and anything that’s required of us! We are very hardworking and eager to help our hosts. Alyss has previous experience with workaway, having already worked in Italy for 1 month in 2022 while Ben is new to the site but has experience with British potato farming and livestock! We have both experienced Italy individually and we went to Sicily together for our holiday last year and would love the opportunity to experience Italy as Italians do.

We are both adventurous and enjoy meeting new people while learning about different cultures. We both love live music, reading and nature. Ben is a passionate bartender who loves to create new cocktails and his favourite is a Negroni! Alyss is a social person who prefers conversations with people. We both have very similar values and political standpoints all of which include equal rights, BLM, climate change and sustainability. We both love to cook so helping around the house would be no problem, it would actually be a delight! We also would love to learn some Italian and we’ll happily teach you some English in return.

Alyss is currently studying Food and Nutrition at Sheffield Hallam University and has had a passion for cooking throughout her life due to her parents teaching her. Ben has just graduated from studying Geography at Sheffield Hallam University and discovered he loved cooking from his Indian housemate at the beginning of university so he has a passion for Indian cuisine. We cook food from different cuisines and regularly try new recipes. We would love to learn authentic Italian meals and in return, we could cook for our hosts! Ben has slight experience in carpentry, electrics, and painting so he would be able to assist with DIY projects while Alyss has no experience but is more than happy to learn!

As well as working extremely well together, we are also independent, responsible and reliable. As guests, we are courteous and respectful and as people we are kind, accepting and funny. Working away will allow us to experience new ways of life and to meet people we wouldn’t normally encounter. We really hope to create lifelong connections and build relationships across the way!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Alyss - I have worked within hospitality for 7 years and it has given me confidence when speaking to new people, time management skills and problem solving skills. I am calm under pressure and enjoy fast paced environments with a challenge! I love learning about new situations and can adapt quickly. These skills will help throughout workaway because I'm comfortable meeting new people and being in unfamiliar places and I am willing to help with anything. When I worked in Italy, I worked on a hand maintained veggie farm and a vineyard. I learnt about the process of bottling wine and sealing it.

Ben - I have also worked within hospitality for 7 years and recently became a bar supervisor. This promotion gave me confidence in managing a team and having high standards. Speaking to new people from around the city, I am also confident in new situations. I am a patient person and this allows me to navigate challenges and make thoughtful decisions which I could apply to my work away because I love taking on new tasks and learning new skills. I also have experience within labouring such as carpentry, fitting electrics, painting, gardening and landscaping and farming.

Was noch ...

Ben is very interested in sports, having played sports for the majority of his life. His favourite sport to play is football and is cricket to watch. He supports Southampton and Alyss supports Sheffield United. Alyss likes to draw and listen to music a lot. She has over 70 vinyls that she loves collecting!

We both go to the cinema regularly and would consider ourselves film nerds! We also maintain a healthy diet and go to the gym and try to workout as much as we can.
