Hi Workaway network!
I'm Ziortxa, Chilean, 32 years old.
After a break of almost 5 month from travelling focusing on my travel agency, that was born from the 18 months of volunteering and backpacking that I started in 2024, I am finally back to this beautiful world of connecting with cultures through volunteering.
Those 18 months I travelled and volunteered in India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Sri Lanka in different workaways, such as school, NGOs, guest house and hostels, resort, orphanage and a lots of farms! All experiences that have fullfilled my heart and soul as well as I've learn from so much. My trip finished back in India where I did my 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training.

Before this amazing adventure I lived in Brazil for 4 years providing me the privilege to connect and meet different kind of people as cultures, process that helped to create who I am now, a vegetarian women, yoga and nature lover, great amateur cooker, love to cook and eat. I speak English, Portuguese and Spanish fluently. I've always worked in the hospitality industry since it's my profession and I love it.
Serving and helping other is a great purpose in my life and I feel to much gratitude and pleasure doing it.

After the working break in South America, I am looking to get to know new destinations that allow me to connect with new cultures and learn from them.

I have a true interest on volunteering in projects related to yoga, hospitality, family houses, social and sustainable projects, and to connect with the planet and myself.

Dear Meera we are sorry that we didn’t leave a review until now.

When we remember which was our deepest experience the last months, we always comeback to this workaway.
We started in New Delhi in an apartment in a calm and safe neighborhood, the headquarters of Meeras’ beautiful project. We used that time to disconnect from the craziness that… read more India sometimes can be and we help doing quality check in the pijamas. Having a lot of extra time to go out if we wanted, do our own task and also cook our food. Working with Meera was really good, she is super communicative, direct and open to any doubts or concerns you might have. The apartment is also a 10 of 10 place. We got the chance to meet her family and João could join her husband in a cricket game.

After a week helping her, we really wanted to go to the ashram and meet the kids. It is a orphanage with almost 90 people between children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Most of them with any kind of physical or mental situation. The ashram is also an school, so they receive children and teenagers from the near village.

At the begging we didn’t know where to start, how to help. Gagan and Garima ask for help with some administrative task, also to join a class of the students and teach them something, just to share with them. But at a certain point we decided to spend time with the orphanges and special kids, you can noticed that they need company, love, someone to play with or show them something interesting, so we decided that we would help with any task requested (such as work with the cows, prepare the potatoes, wash dishes, move cow poo, clean the dinning room, all jobs that the orphanages also does) and dedicated a lot of time to play and to do activities to incentive their creativity. If you don’t know how to start you can put some Hindi music and dance, they love it so much.

Being in this ashram is about share and give a lot of your time to make them happier. We preferred to do all the activities with the orphanages rather the school students because they needed it at that time and probably still. So we strongly recommend you and invite you to go to the ashram, share your time, give love, dedicate a moment to be with the most needed, even if it is only a couple of days on your way to Rishikesh. We stayed for 10 days and it was really tiring because we wanted to make them happy.

The family at the ashram received us in a private room with toilet, prepare delicious food for us (Krisha best cooker). Garima’s son has an excellent English and he is really collaborating if you ask for help.
