About Me:

I'm 32, English, and quite tall. I love conversation, food, coffee, gardening, hiking, walking, swimming, cooking, teaching, writing, reading literature (English, Chinese),language-learning, and lots of other things. I studied Chinese at university and Medieval History at MA.

I'm very flexible on working arrangements, and outside of assigned work will always try to help where I can. I try as much as possible to show my gratitude to those who teach me things and who have let me into their home. I have many stories and love to hear them from others too. I enjoy spending time with people, but I'm also happy alone.

I'd be delighted to learn your language (and culture!), and to teach you mine. :)

Workaway Experience:

- My first experience of work through Workaway was working on a farm near Bologna, Italy, in July 2019. This involved: wood-chopping, lifting, fence-building, roof-mending, feeding animals, cleaning, hay gathering and stacking, grass cutting and raking, weeding and general gardening, among other things.

- In October 2019 I went to Greece for the olive harvest, which involved the same kind of work as above, only more intense. I absolutely loved it. In October 2022 I returned to the the same place, doing the harvest a second time. The hosts have become my Greek family and I miss them whenever I'm away. It was wonderful.

- In 2023 I did Workaways in Georgia, one at a construction site, and one at a wonderful hostel, where I did greeting guests, check-ins, cleaning, room changeover etc. So I have experience running hostels and everything required for that. I try to help make an atmosphere. :)

- My most recent workaways have been on farms in Calabria, Italy. This has involved, gardening, clearing, heavy-lifting, digging, weeding, planting, construction work [fences, floors, though this work was supervised], and serving guests at a rural restaurant [Cucina Contadina],

- I've also worked in lots of different industries: teaching, shopping (retail), marketing, social media, working online, etc. So I have lots of skills from these which can be useful for small businesses and charities.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

My workaway experience has covered various jobs: wood-chopping and stacking, lifting, fence-building, roof-mending, feeding animals, cleaning, hay gathering and stacking, grass cutting and raking, weeding and general gardening, olive-harvesting, pruning, heavy-lifting, among other things.

Outside of Workaway I have various experience teaching (English and Chinese) to different age-groups, ranging from Ages 9-22, both in formal and informal settings. In 2019 I lived with a Spanish family for four months while employed as a teacher, and gave their son English lessons on a daily basis. I'd be very happy to teach Chinese for anyone interested.

I also have experience working in retail shops, working a check-out, answering customer questions, entering information into logging-systems or databases (I'm quite familiar with using computers), and generally making a nice, welcoming atmosphere and being available.

Was noch ...

I'm quite tall, 6,4 (193cm), and now (tragically) have a bit less hair than in my pictures. I often wear a hat, but not always.
