Hello there!

We are Victoria and Edith, two close friends from Aarhus, Denmark. We have been friends for nearly 3 years since gymnasium. We both share a passion for traveling, different cultures, and meaningful experiences. Our goal with Workaway is to connect with a lot of wonderful, new people, learn new skills and language exchange while trying out new cultures.

Victoria:
Age: 20

A bit about me:
I’m a positive person by nature and try to see the best in everything. I’m a social person and love being around other people and getting to know new people. I love to knit, bake and read in my spare time. Other than that I love spending time with the people that I love, my friends and family. I have always loved to travel and to see new parts of the world and I love the idea of getting to know a country through the locals and therefore seeing a different side of the country than you normally would. I would love to learn new cultures and immerse myself in the cultures.
I have always wanted to go to Iceland and to experience the country and nature. An added bonus for me would be to try and learn some of the language as I have always liked the Icelandic language.


Edith:
Age: 20
A bit about me: I’m a calm and social person who’s open to new experiences and adventures. I’m a creative person who likes to write, draw and express myself in other artistic ways. I like to cook and bake, spend time in nature and I enjoy reading a few books now and then. I love spending time with people that inspire me, my friends and family especially. I would like to experience a lot of new cultures by becoming a close part of the local community as that seems like such a beautiful way of doing it.

The reason for me wanting to work in Iceland, is because of my Icelandic part of the family. I have visited the beautiful country a few times before but I dream of becoming closer by speaking the language and experiencing the culture. My wish is to be able to speak with my grandmother in her native language Icelandic.


What are we looking for:
We are open for the different types of jobs but we are primarily looking for an insight in the culture and language exchange. Therefore it would be an amazing opportunity to be around local people and get to know the community.

We are looking for a host in the months of January to the end of March in Iceland. However Edith can stay a month or two longer if wanted and needed.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We both went to the same gymnasium in Aarhus, where we had social studies, english and math as the study programme. We both have Danish as our mother tongue and speak advanced english. We are more than happy to teach our language to others in exchange for your language:)
We both have basic cleaning, cooking and gardening skills. Victoria has spent two years at boarding school with the focus being on outdoor and sport, here she learned some outdoor skills. Edith has worked as a substitute in a nursery before and therefore has some experience with kids. Edith has just spent a semester at an art boarding school/folk high school(a Danish concept called “højskole”), so she has a few creative skills up her sleeve here among ceramics and painting.

We are not afraid to take action and to learn new things. We would love to come home with new skills and to learn things we would not normally have come across in Denmark.

As friends, we love playing different variations of board games and card games together. We are a bit board game enthusiasts and love spending our time together, trying out new games.
We enjoy cooking together and trying out new recipes and restaurants, as we both are pescatarians and both enjoy the same kind of food. A typical night in for us are either making or ordering food, watching films and playing board games. We also enjoy going to cafes and just spend time with each other.
As we both are in out sabbatical year, we both want to experience new things, cultures and get as many memories together.
