Beschreibung

Hi, we’re Tom and Alie, a couple from England & The Cayman Islands, on a working holiday in Japan!

From September we’ll be spending a year here, moving around the country, and we’re excited to experience everyday life, connect with local people, and lend a hand wherever we can.

We’re both easy-going, curious, respectful and love trying new things. Tom is happiest outdoors, hiking, cycling, swimming, or tinkering on DIY projects (he once converted his own campervan from scratch!). Alie is more creative, she loves painting, cooking and baking (especially vegan treats), and getting lost in a good manga. Together we both enjoy cooking, exploring new places, and sharing stories over a meal.

We’d also love to share recipes, crafts, and stories from England, the Cayman Islands, and beyond!

Our dream one day is to open an animal sanctuary, so we’re keen to improve our practical skills that will help us get there, whether that’s caring for animals, growing food, or keeping a household running smoothly. We come with curiosity, a positive attitude, and a willingness to get stuck in, and we hope to make each exchange as valuable and enjoyable for our hosts as it is for us.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Tom has hands-on experience with gardening, DIY, farming tasks, and general maintenance from helping support his fathers small chicken farm (for pets not for food!). He has also supported community outreach projects, taught English online, and worked in cafés and events, alongside 9 years in corporate real estate developing strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Alie has over 10 years of hospitality experience in restaurants and bars, including fine dining, bartending, and large-scale catering. She’s especially confident in kitchens, from everyday meals to vegan baking, and has also taught English online, volunteered with children, and fostered dogs.

Together we cover hospitality, cooking, childcare, teaching, animal care, and practical outdoor work. We’re reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently or as a team, and we’re ready to get stuck in wherever help is needed!

Was noch ...

We don’t smoke and only drink socially. Tom occasionally eats meat or fish but is equally happy with plant-based meals, and Alie is vegan. We both also have a driving licence and international permit for Japan.
