Hi everyone !
We are Soraya & Nicolas (So & Nico) a Belgian - French couple living in the North of France since 2016.
We love travelling together (Europe, Africa, South-East Asia, Canada..), and we are always looking for new places to discover et new people to meet !
We have been renovating our house for 4 years, doing almost everything by ourselves, so we love building and repairing stuff.
So loves walking, boxing and surfing, Nico loves EVERY sport (literally) but he is especially passionate about volleyball.

We are cheerful & talkative people who love a good laugh !
We feel like a connection is always possible, even when our languages are different.
2 years ago, we welcomed our dog Obé who will be 5 soon. We could not have dreamed of a kinder dog...or a clingier one !

We would like to move to Spain by the end of 2025, so Workaway is a good opportunity for us to embrace the Spanish way of life :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?
We are very curious people so we love to learn new skills.
We've been renovating a house for the last 4 years so we learned a handful of things such as plumbing, painting, drywalls and construction in general (nothing about electricity.. yet !)

We are passionate about cooking and would love you to have a taste of our cuisine :)

So has been a girl scout for many years so she is at ease in nature and can cut wood, light a fire and build all kinds of stuff.
She sews very well, which can be useful in any house.
She has also been gardening a little and would love to learn more about it !

Nico is an engineer! He loves building stuff but more than anything : repairing stuff ! He can spend hours figuring out why things don't work and create whole new systems that always blow his friend's mind.

We travel with our dog Obé (5 year old labrador mix), who is very calm, obedient and affectionate. He gets along with most dogs, and is learning to be a friend to cats as well.

vom Host (Enjoy gardening in a ...) für Workawayer ()

My workaway experience with Soraya was extremely positive, so I highly recommend this girl who was born in Belgium but has lived in France for many years, because in addition to being very good and willing, she is also very nice and it is pleasant to spend time in her company.
Soraya is a dynamic and enterprising girl, and she wrote to me in a… read more very nice way on workaway, from which I could immediately understand her positive energy!
Soraya arrived here in Gavorrano by bus, quietly from Follonica, and before that, she had arrived by train from Pisa to Follonica.
After a convivial first evening in which we dined together, the next morning we immediately set to work in the garden: she helped me a lot to sort out all the branches that are on the ground after the pruning of the olive trees over the last few months, so she was very good at collecting the branches, dividing them according to size, cutting them, and cleaning up leaves and twigs, collected in small groups.
Besides that, in her spare time she also helped me sew a chair cover for the terrace, with a very nice cloth I already had, and she sewed it to measure!
We also had a lot of fun, and as she loves good food, it was very nice to cook different dishes for her every day, experimenting with new recipes for lunch and dinner, which she certainly enjoyed :)
On the last day we went to the beach together and shared a swim in the sea first, and then a beautiful sunset and also a great pizza, for a splendid evening, where there was also live music.
In fact, in addition to the passion for good food, with Soraya we also shared the passion for good music!
Finally, I highly recommend this Belgian girl, because in addition to being energetic and nice, she is also very strong and very good at working in the garden, and I really appreciated that from the first day she learned to work independently, setting the alarm clock early, to being able to work in the coolest hours of this hot summer.
Thanks again for all your help dear Soraya, and especially for the last fun evening we spent first on the beach and then eating a good pizza and listening to live music, it was a lot of fun.
Even dancing together at the village festival, while my friend played, was really fun!
I hope you can come back soon dear Soraya, and see all the progress being made here on the farm, thanks to the help of all the workawayers!
