I'm looking for an opportunity to improve my Spanish speaking skills in the months of June and July. I am open to any kind of work/volunteering preferably in a social setting!

Beschreibung

Hi, my name is Sjoerd! I am a politics student from the Netherlands. Next to this, I am taking a minor in Spanish, where I have been learning the language for almost a year now. I would love to combine my passion for traveling with the ability to immerse myself more in the Spanish language. This is one of the main reasons I am drawn to spending time in Spain this summer.

I am a social person who cares about others. Therefore, I find a lot of joy in helping others through volunteering. I believe it creates meaningful exchanges that allow me to learn and grow. I love to meet interesting new individuals with whom i can connect and interchange perspectives.

Although I love my touristy kind of trips, to achieve this I want to travel more slowly through workaway.

As a person, I'm calm, open, social, and reliable. I enjoy spending time with others and am up for any kind of activity - whether that's a party, a coffee chat, or a hike. I love to be busy, and I don't shy away from some hard work or challenges.

I am always happy to teach about any of the languages I know fluently (Dutch and English). I am specifically looking to learn more Spanish, as I have been dedicating this year to learning that. However, I am always open to learning more German or any other language as learning languages is one of my hobbies.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Education:
- This year I am finishing my Bachelor's degree in PPLE (Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics) with a major in Politics. The program has an interdisciplinary focus, and teaches you teamwork and problem-solving skills. I have taken minors next to this in Conflict Studies and Spanish language.

Working Experience:
- During my study I have been a private tutor for 3 years. I have taught all sorts of subjects, although mainly maths, to children between the ages of 9-15. It has shown me how to be patient, empathetic and mindful of the learning process of others. It has also really improved my interpersonal skills and adaptability.
- Before I started as a tutor, I worked in a museum. There, I tended the cash register, worked in the restaurant, and ran the souvenir shop. The customer-focused roles I had have given me hospitality-relevant skills.

Volunteering experience:
- During the past year I have been the secretary of my student association. This entails that I have been responsible for the administration of the entire association and I have organized events all throughout the year. In short, it bolstered my organizational skills, time management capabilities, and has taught me to always pay high attention to detail.

Languages:
I speak fluent Dutch (mother tongue) and English as my study was fully in English. I have a decent level of German and am currently studying Spanish and am currently on around a B1-B2 conversational level.
