Beschreibung
Hi we are Ismael and Andreea 🙌🏼
2026 UPDATE:
• We host volunteers who can join our community for minimum 1 month or longer so that you may benefit from a deeper cultural exchange
• We are very interested in hosting volunteers who are travelling in their own vans as we can provide plenty of parking/camping space.
• You can see what we achieved together recently in the "What else" Section below
WHO WE ARE:
Ismael is half Spanish, half Moroccan and grew up on the West coast of North Morocco : "After opening a hostel with friends in my hometown Assilah, I wanted to create my own place in the countryside to realise my heart project. My vision is to live in a sustainable place for living and creation, together with friends and people from all around the world with the goal to form a community that explores different ways of creation. Ultimately I want a hub to share ideas and provide a cultural exchange in a beautiful and inspiring natural setup close to the wild Atlantic Ocean."
Ismael speaks Spanish, English & Darija.
OUR VISION:
Ismael and Nina (who was here before) began this project in September 2016 and since then we have been continuously working on and evolving the infrastructure on the land including a dry toilet, bathroom, the first cob-straw cabin, an outdoor kitchen, water reservoir, fireplace, fences, electricity, water system, planting and gardening.
Our project is an experimental place with the vision to create a sanctuary space for freedom, wellbeing and cultural exchange in arts, sustainable architecture and permaculture. We are dreaming of a place where we can live and work closer together with nature and the environment, test innovative concepts, create spaces which are inspiring and have fun!
Volunteering at the farm is just one aspect of our vision, connecting many projects and initiatives, importantly all rooted in the health, upkeep and constant evolution of the land and sharing of knowledge with people from across the globe. We nurture our food forest and continuously evolve our practices and in turn supply organic ingredients to our bar in Assilah, Andreeas living project rooted in permaculture and herbal medicine. We aim to share the space with both volunteers and hostel guests, by intertwining our life with the fun and relaxed nature of guest experiences.
We are naturally ecological without being dogmatic. We do our best to do what goes in the direction of recycling, nature and human preservation. We love to discuss about it and sometimes the good choice is not always the one that looks the most ecological. 🍃
OUR PLACE:
Our space is a fun place and we strive to ensure everyone is happy and enjoys their time at our place. We welcome all volunteers looking to share their knowledge and seeking a new experiences away from the hectic city life, diving deep into Moroccan culture and lifestyle.
OUR VOLUNTEERS
We are looking for people in our community with maker and creative minds who have fun and are passionate to move and change parts of our project. We would love to get to know people who care about our project and place and want to share and learn together!!
Take a look at the “Help” section to get a better idea of the kind of projects we are currently working on. If you are genuinely interested in this kind of project and tasks and you are an open minded person who is not scared of exploring cultural experiences outside of Europe, then you will certainly enjoy this experience with us in Morocco!
NEXT STEPS:
Please read through the below information to get more of an idea of what we are able to teach and provide you with, what we expect from you and how we can do tasks together. If you are interested or need more information please contact us and we will send you our Volunteer Guidelines Chart that gives detailed information about our daily life and organisation.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
We exchange a lot with our Moroccan builder and our beloved guardian Hammid. Sometimes we will have dinner with friends in the farm or in the countryside, going to the beach, surfing, exploring new places, exploring different souks together, hunting for secondhand stuff and visiting places without many or any tourists. This project will be full of variety and will always be an adventure with us.
Volunteers will benefit by experiencing Morocco from the inside, not just as visitors but as contributors. Daily life becomes the classroom: whether it’s sharing meals, helping with projects or connecting with locals, travellers will gain a more authentic understanding of the culture and community.
What you will learn goes beyond practical skills too! You might pick up bits of Darija (Moroccan Arabic), discover traditional cooking methods or learn and get used to moving at a different pace of life, one that values connection, simplicity and presence. You might also, importantly, develop some more soft skills like adaptability, communication across cultures and openness to new perspectives.
Cultural exchange is a two-way street of course. You are welcome and encouraged to share your own stories, skills and ideas, creating a space where everyone learns from each other. When volunteers reach the end of their stay, most leave not just with memories, but really with a sense of belonging and a broader view of the world and the alternative ways of life here in Morocco.
Arbeit
We are looking forward to connecting with likeminded people who want to learn about our culture, the ways of the land and bring positive energy to our already well established local team. Any skills or niche hobbies you have will be welcomed and in return we will share, together, our knowledge of gardening, building, cooking and local stories as well as an insight into how we live here in Morocco! We look forward to meeting you :))
Here are some interesting sorts of tasks you will be able to learn and experience with us throughout your weeks at the farm. The majority of these tasks are led by professionals in their fields, our lovely builder Jamal, our Herbalist, Andreea and our Host/manager, Ismael.
✭ Wood tasks, helping to set up watering systems, helping our local builder with natural housing construction
✭ Being part of social media content, learning about film production, sharing crowdfunding ideas etc.
✭Helping in the garden learning/sharing knowledge about plant care, harvest vegetables and plants, assisting Andreea with her Herbalist activities such as distillation, harvest herbs/flowers
The next steps we hope to achieve in 2026 are:
• Pursuing the construction of the rooms
• Planning and refreshing vegetable gardens
• Landscaping, reproducing plants for ornamental gardens
• Making the space more comfortable for everybody to stay all seasons long.
** this is to give you an idea of the steps we are taking towards a self sufficient farm and we would love to share with you how we are achieving this. We hope to not only share with you our way of life but also inspire you to share your own knowledge and culture.
Several tasks in progress :
• building and decorating natural dorm style rooms and a cabin : learn how to build natural housing
• yoga temple: learn about a more spiritual side of us and share yoga, meditation and ceremonial classes and offering
• chicken house and a kennel : for animal management
• planting seedlings for summer: learn about how we manage, plant and harvest our garden in the Moroccan countryside
• summer showers/dry toilets : learn how we create and maintain an off grid toilet/shower system

Unterkunft
We are living in the farm in el Houmr (15min by car from Assilah, with Bus 7min and 30min of walking from the main road). We offer you a bunk bed with a proper matress, duvet, pillow and bedsheets in a shared cabin with other volunteers and hostel guests. You also have the possibility to camp or put your hammock in the trees. The volunteer house includes a simple outside kitchen which is practical for most Moroccan's weather. There is a dry toilet to take care of and inside showers.
With the food we provide from our garden, the local markets and restaurants and all other necessary supplies, our volunteers are responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner and to keep their spaces clean. Most people here are vegetarian, if somebody needs a special diet (vegan, gluten or lactose free) we will try our best to accommodate but by living in the countryside we live off and local produce from nearby farmers and we would love for you to experience and immerse yourself in this way of living too. We tend to participate in Couscous Fridays where we sit together, sharing our favourite parts of the week and enjoying delicious locally made dishes. On days off volunteers are self responsible and have time to travel or hang out in the volunteer areas.

On a final note, we would love for you to be familiar with the other aspects of the farm and how they are all interconnected. That way you can have a holistic view of what we do here and how our contributions and sharing of knowledge and experience affect and influence many projects and happenings. 🐝🐝
Andreea’s philosophy starts with the soil. Soil is the first medicine. It is a living project rooted in herbal medicine, permaculture, and deep Earth connection. Here, Andreea has cultivated a community of like minded people interested in learning more about our connection with plants and herbs through workshops and natural organic products.
Produce from the food forest and garden are directly used for kombucha, medicinal plant distillation and Aromatherapy & Botanical Perfumery workshops and the ongoing volunteer help to provide a space for eco trekking and permaculture workshops.
The hostel is an off-grid experimental sanctuary where we also offer spaces for guests to stay. This is where guests can interact with volunteers, experience a life of freedom, wellbeing and cultural exchanges in food, sustainability, arts and permaculture. This is also an ongoing project and is ever evolving. We hope to have both volunteers and guests involved in shared events ie. pizza nights, pool days by the bar etc.
Ismael’s sunset rooftop bar located in Assilah, is also connected as we provide produce from the garden for all kinds of cocktails. It is also intertwined by selling and using many products here such as kombucha and herbal blends and botanical oils.
As you can see, even though sharing with our volunteers and teaching and growing together here is the main priority and experience we offer, we are involved in many projects and it is super important that we understand the connections between them.
