Beschreibung

Brought up in Cambridgeshire I currently I live in SE London with my wife Barbara and have four grown up children.I have spent most of my working life creating, fabricating and installing sets and structures for the entertainment industry, ranging from the Circus to Opera, working mainly in timber, steel and aluminium.

Now that I have retired and our children have largely left home I wish to continue to use my skills working for environmental and development projects and also have an opportunity to work with people of different backgrounds and cultures.

Until the Covid lockdown I volunteered at the Dragon Cafe, a weekly provider of social and creative support for those with mental health issues.

Currently I volunteer with Workaid in Chesham who collect, refurbish, and send tools and equipment to African development projects.

As a climate crisis is almost inevitable the emphasis must now be to reset the relationship between human beings and the environment and to begin to create new and sustainable economic and social structures for the future.
For myself I have always enjoyed the natural world and would very much like to spend more time in new and challenging places.

In addition to my original training as a welder fabricator I have received training in forklift and elevated work platform operation, rigging, working at height and ladder safety as well as first aid and defibrillator courses. I completed a one day course in Dry stone walling in 2018.
I have a BA degree in Modern History and enhanced DBS status.

I have always enjoyed problem solving and finding creative solutions to practical problems and am used to working collaboratively, leading and motivating both skilled and unskilled staff often working to tight deadlines and under pressure, to complete a task to the highest standards. My attitude has always been to make any job enjoyable as well as rewarding and I would like to pass on such skills as I have to others.

Was noch ...

For many years my main focus was to be as good and supportive father as I could be to my four children. Now that my wife and I have more time we enjoy being out doors, longbow shooting and visiting the theatre.
I have always read for relaxation, mainly novels, history and current affairs.
