Beschreibung

We are Robin and Mayumi, a British–Japanese couple travelling with our two friendly, curious boys, aged 10 and 9. After many years living in Japan, we now live in the countryside in Dorset, England and love meeting people, learning about local life and spending time outdoors.

We are reliable, positive and happy to get stuck in. We can help with gardening, cooking, general household tasks, light maintenance, organising, cleaning and practical projects. We also enjoy sharing English and Japanese language and culture. Our boys are respectful, adaptable, and happiest around nature, animals, and other children, and would only join in safe, age-appropriate tasks.

For us, Workaway is about genuine exchange: helping properly, sharing meals and conversation, and becoming part of family life for a little while.

We are both keen to improve our Spanish through everyday conversation and immersion in local life. Robin is a native English speaker, and Mayumi is a native Japanese speaker. We are both happy to help hosts and their families practise English or Japanese through relaxed conversation, games, reading and cultural exchange. We would especially enjoy sharing languages with children and learning useful, natural Spanish in return.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We are a British–Japanese, bilingual and bicultural family, with English and Japanese spoken naturally at home. We are friendly, adaptable and comfortable communicating with people from different backgrounds.

Robin is physically strong and has plenty of stamina from many years of ultra-distance and trail running. He has practical experience in labouring, building-site work, fruit picking, gardening, house moves and removal work, and is happy with lifting, outdoor jobs and hands-on tasks. Professionally, he has extensive experience in sales, business development, organisation and working with people.

Mayumi is a public relations and communications professional with strong skills in writing, planning, organisation, hospitality and creative projects. She also enjoys yoga, healthy living, cooking and sharing Japanese culture.

Our two boys are energetic, sociable and used to outdoor life. They love football, ball games and karate. They are respectful and keen to learn, but the adults would always be the main helpers; the children would only join in safe, light, age-appropriate activities.


Together, we can bring energy, reliability, cultural exchange and a genuine willingness to learn. We are not afraid of hard work and are happiest when we can contribute properly as part of a household or project.

We are an active, outdoors-loving family who enjoys walking, trail running, football, karate, swimming and exploring new places. We also love good food, cooking together, reading, films and relaxed family evenings.

After living in Japan for many years and now living in rural Dorset, we are used to adapting to different cultures and ways of life. We are curious, respectful, and easygoing, and we value genuine conversation, shared meals, and learning how local people really live.


We are not looking for a hotel experience—we are happiest joining in, helping where needed and becoming part of the household for a little while.
