We're living in Beijing, half way through our two-year stint. Next year we plan to visit Spain, Italy, Greece, Denmark, South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia, and Uruguay. Probably about a month each.

Beschreibung

We are Mark and Lori Rogers.
We are 61 and 63, but not old. Healthy, energetic and adventurous! We love to travel and experience other cultures. Arizona, USA, is home but we are currently living in Beijing, China where Lori is a teacher at an International school. We have been here for a year. We returned to the U.S. for the summer to visit our children and grandchildren. Now we're back in Beijing for another year. After this school year, we plan to live and work and play in several different areas of the world through WorkAway.

Don't worry, I'm not saying nothing will be happening for another year. Actually, Lori will complete her second year of teaching in Beijing but Mark will be exploring places for our next adventure. I'd love to work and live with you for a short time as I learn about and consider a longer stay with you after Lori is finished.

Who are we? Well, first we are part of a huge family. We have four children and twelve grandchildren, and they are the center of our lives. They all live near us in Arizona and we have great times together. Lori has been a primary school teacher for twenty-one years, working mostly as a math specialist. She is obviously a great mother and grandmother with fantastic skills in managing a home and family in addition to her professional work where she excels. She also plays piano beautifully and is a fantastic cook.

Mark is educated as a Mechanical Engineer. I worked in Engineering for twenty years and then another twenty years building and managing various businesses from real estate to a pizza franchise to an "escape room" (public entertainment venue) where I got to design and build everything! Put that engineering mind to work! Throughout my life, I have had what people call an "engineer mind." That means I can build anything, fix anything, design anything, and understand the ins and out of pretty much everything. I love construction and building. I love solving problems. I love optimizing space utilization. I love taking something from an idea and turning it into reality. That's what I thrive on. I would love to jump into whatever projects you're working on and see what I can do to help it along.

Lori and I have traveled to 35 countries and just love seeing the world. Getting to know people and getting into the local culture gives travel a purpose. I hope we can find a great overlap in our interests and needs. Let's talk.

I enjoy studying language. I learned to speak Japanese when I was 20 and have maintained it and used it throughout my engineering career. Would be happy to help others learn. I am currently living in China and studying Chinese (Mandarin) to enhance my experience here. I grew up in Arizona and naturally acquired a rudimentary level of understanding Spanish. Would love to learn more.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Mechanical Engineer. I love to build, create, fix, design, and solve problems. I have built so many things, I can barely scratch the surface. I recently built a workshop in my backyard and filled it with woodworking tools and equipment to support my other projects. I designed and built a mini-golf course for my grandkids. I designed and built and managed an "escape room" (public entertainment venue). I've remodeled my house and those of some of my children. Wow, you name it, I've probably done it. With an engineering mind, it's what I do. "I know things and I fix stuff."

Goodness. Lots of room to talk about myself! The bottom line is that I love creating. I am a DIY-er. I love to develop an idea and bring it into existence.
