Hi! I’m from Taiwan and currently travelling through southern and southwestern France, hoping to experience everyday life in different regions and communities.

One special goal of this journey is to walk the Camino de Santiago in autumn and receive my pilgrimage certificate around my 30th birthday. I’m also hoping to spend time with local people, learn about their way of life, and discover each place at a slower pace.

A few years ago, I travelled around Australia through HelpX, staying with five local families. It became one of the most meaningful experiences of my life — sharing meals, daily routines and stories, helping around the house, and caring for pets together. Although I don’t have pets of my own, I truly enjoy spending time with animals and tend to become attached to them quickly!

Back in Taiwan, I work in education. I’m used to spending time with children and people of different ages, and I’m comfortable adapting to new environments and family routines. I enjoy learning new things, sharing what I know, and helping wherever I’m needed. I’m happy to take part in everyday life rather than simply being a guest in the house.

For me, cultural exchange is not about sightseeing quickly, but about slowing down and experiencing real daily life. I enjoy quiet walks, books, board games, music, singing, family meals, and simple conversations.

My French is still very limited — at the moment, I mainly know basic greetings — but I’d really like to learn more through everyday life. I’m not expecting to become fluent quickly; I simply hope to pick up useful words and expressions naturally by listening, speaking, and living alongside local people.

I hope this journey will help me better understand different ways of living, while also giving me meaningful experiences and stories to share with my students when I return to Taiwan.

Bonjour ! Je viens de Taïwan et je voyage actuellement dans le sud et le sud-ouest de la France. J’aimerais découvrir la vie quotidienne dans différentes régions et communautés.

Un objectif important de ce voyage est de faire le Camino de Santiago cet automne et de recevoir mon certificat de pèlerinage autour de mon 30e anniversaire. J’aimerais aussi passer du temps avec les habitants, découvrir leur façon de vivre et prendre le temps de connaître chaque endroit.

Il y a quelques années, j’ai voyagé en Australie avec HelpX et j’ai vécu dans cinq familles locales. C’est devenu l’une des expériences les plus importantes de ma vie : partager les repas et la vie quotidienne, discuter, aider à la maison et m’occuper des animaux. Je n’ai pas d’animaux chez moi, mais j’aime beaucoup passer du temps avec eux et je m’attache facilement !

À Taïwan, je travaille dans l’éducation. J’ai l’habitude de passer du temps avec des enfants et des personnes de différents âges. Je m’adapte facilement à de nouveaux environnements et aux habitudes d’une famille. J’aime apprendre de nouvelles choses, partager ce que je connais et aider là où c’est nécessaire. J’aime participer à la vie quotidienne plutôt que d’être simplement une invitée dans la maison.

Pour moi, l’échange culturel ne consiste pas à visiter rapidement beaucoup d’endroits, mais à ralentir et à découvrir la vraie vie quotidienne. J’aime les promenades tranquilles, les livres, les jeux de société, la musique, chanter, partager un repas et avoir de petites conversations.

Mon français est encore très limité — pour le moment, je connais surtout les salutations de base — mais j’aimerais beaucoup apprendre grâce à la vie quotidienne. Je ne m’attends pas à devenir rapidement bilingue ; j’aimerais simplement apprendre naturellement des mots et des expressions utiles en écoutant, en parlant et en vivant avec les habitants.

J’espère que ce voyage me permettra de mieux comprendre différentes façons de vivre et de rapporter avec moi de belles expériences et des histoires à partager avec mes élèves à mon retour à Taïwan.
