Megan:

My name is Megan, I am 26 years old and I am from High Wycombe in England, (which is on the outskirts of London). I would describe myself as a very positive person, and I love spending time meeting new people and learning about different people's backgrounds and cultures. I work as a secondary school Geography Teacher, and I really love my job. I have also been a swimming teacher.

Me and my husband Josh are having 6 months off work to travel around South America, hence why we are looking to do a work away. We are very self-motivated people, and are just excited to immerse ourselves into a different culture and into different activities to our normal jobs. We love community, music, cooking, food, walking, painting, swimming, sports, and playing board games. We are relatively practical people - and will give anything a go. We have not done a work away before, but both of us have done a lot of international volunteering/travelling. We are just really excited to get stuck into something new, and to learn!

Josh:

My name is Josh, I am 26 years old and am from Little Kingshill, which is on the outskirts of London in England. I would describe myself as hard working and positive. Currently, I am working as an Actuary in London, (working in insurance/finance). I love what I do and find the work challenging in a good way. Me and my wife Meg are having 6 months of work to travel around South America. We are starting in Brazil, and are hoping to travel around a few countries, including Argentina, Chile, Peru and Bolivia.

One of my passions in learning Spanish. I did it at school, and have tried to keep it up since. I would really love to practise my Spanish on a work away, with the goal of becoming more confident in conversational Spanish. I am also looking forward to throwing myself into a project, getting involved and helping wherever I can, and trying new things. At home, I play badminton, play the drums and love to play board games. I love music and playing in bands. I am a self-motivated person and like to meet new people. I am excited to do a work away!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Meg: qualified swimming teacher and qualified secondary school geography teacher - so good at teaching/working with all ages. University degree in Geography, and Post graduate degree in teaching.
Josh: qualified actuary (insurance) - so good at IT. University degree and masters degree in mathematics.

Other than our official qualifications, Josh is good at basic DIY. We both have painted walls before. Josh's Spanish is intermediate, whereas mine is beginner.

We have both done a lot of volunteering before. Working especially at children's holiday clubs. We have lead bands, and taught young people music, (Josh drumming and me singing/playing guitar). I volunteering in South Africa for 3 months working in a community project, doing health educational visits, leading elderly exercise and community groups, and IT skills classes in the local library. I have also done some conservation work in Costa Rica, working on mapping sea level rise and how this impacts where turtle's leave their eggs.

Was noch ...

Our favourite games are Monopoly Deal, Cascadia, Carcasonne, Catan, any card game, Ticket to Ride and Everdell. We are sad we won't be able to bring many games as we will be just carrying backpacks, but we are keen to learn any games you have.
