Hi! I’m Mauro, a 31-year-old from Argentina, currently on a personal journey through Europe. Born and raised in a small town, I’ve always valued simplicity, connection, and learning by doing.

Since 2020, I’ve been living abroad — first in Vienna, then Madrid, and most recently in Oslo for two years. Now, I’m taking some time off work to explore Workaway experiences in France, hoping to meet new people, improve my French, and develop practical skills (and to learn about French culture — very important!).

I’m deeply curious about how people live, work, and think. I believe that through honest, hands-on interactions and daily routines, we learn more about the world, others, and mostly about ourselves. I aim to be a present, attentive, and considerate volunteer who contributes in meaningful ways while learning from the people around me. I enjoy a calm, respectful atmosphere and value open communication. I'm happy to help wherever needed — whether it's working outdoors or indoors, learning new tasks, or just sharing stories over dinner.

I’d really appreciate it if you read my whole profile. I know — it’s long! Sorry! But I worked hard to make it as accurate as possible so we both have clear expectations.

IMPORTANT: During each Thursday of November I have an online course which I need to attend from 13hs to 21hs (with a break between 16hs-18hs) so those days I need to start early in the morning with the working routines to be free at 13hs for the course

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I wouldn’t call myself an expert in any area, but I’m eager to learn, contribute, and follow instructions carefully. Here’s what I’m familiar with:

🔧 Outdoor & Manual Work

- Painting fences and walls
- Weeding and composting
- Basic gardening tasks (with some guidance)
- General cleaning and maintenance
- Supporting farm work or light construction (with clear instructions)
- Animal care: comfortable and happy to be around and take care of dogs, cats, and other furry family members 🐶

💡 Soft Skills

- Patient, respectful, observant, and a quick learner (or I try to be at least 😅)
- Calm and non-conflictive — I always prefer to avoid tension and have a smooth experience
- I aim to be perceptive to others’ needs: whether it’s helping, listening, or giving space, I’ll try my best to adapt

👷 What I WOUD LOVE TO LEARN and Help With

🎒 Activities I Enjoy

- Hiking, trekking, fishing, ping-pong, chatting, cooking, learning new things, and more!
- I can’t play any instrument (I’ve tried 😅), but I love music and meaningful conversations about anything from culture to travel to everyday life.
- I read about anything that sparks my curiosity: entrepreneurship, cooking, life purpose, sports, news
- I’ve been trying to live a healthier lifestyle by doing simple workouts regularly — I carry basic gear with me to train wherever I am

🤝 What Else…

- Random things I would love to learn: rock climbing, horse riding, sewing, embroidery, mushroom picking, cheese making, breathing techniques, yoga, restoration of antiques, drawing, martial arts, and learning about art. And if you really want to test your patience, you can try teaching me to play guitar 😂.
- I brewed beer in the past — if you’re into that and have the tools, I’d be happy to brew together!
- I’m not a party animal, so you won’t have to worry about wild nights. I enjoy peaceful, grounded moments — though I’m always up for a fun evening or celebration if the moment calls for it
- I enjoy both shared moments (like chatting by the fire or a dinner outdoors) and quiet time — just let me know what works best for you
- Cleanliness is important to me. I prefer to shower daily or every other day (especially after outdoor work). If water usage is limited — which it often is — I’d just appreciate knowing in advance
- I’m tidy, organized, and respectful of shared spaces and routines
- I’ve always lived with animals — even our family’s backyard chicken who gets along with the dogs and lays eggs regularly
- Sometimes I’ll need to use my phone and laptop for planning trips, staying in touch with family and friends, or organizing projects — but this never interferes with my responsibilities

🥘 Diet & Food Notes

- I’m omnivorous and have no dietary restrictions
- I tend to have a good appetite, and lunch and specially dinner are important meals for me. I usually have a very small or no breakfast (but always my Argentinian mate, which I bring and buy myself), but I do appreciate having more filling meals later in the day.

🧑‍🔧 Previous Workaway Experience

In March 2023, I completed a Workaway in Spain with my former partner. Our tasks included helping to build a swimming pool under the host’s guidance, removing weeds, moving heavy materials, working with natural stone for wall finishing, and general outdoor maintenance.

Video call: I’m always open to a short video call before confirming a stay — it helps ensure a good match on both sides

Active host search: I usually wait 24 hours for a reply before reaching out to another host, out of respect for your time and potential urgency

Host-Volunteer communication: I’d love to keep open, honest communication during the experience, so we all feel safe and supported

Driving license disclaimer: I hold both Spanish and Argentine citizenships, have valid travel insurance, and an Argentinian driving license (linked to my national ID with a translation as the law requires)
