Hi!

We are Bertille and Julien, a happy, easy-going and adventurous French couple, ready to discover New Zealand and make the most of this amazing experience!

We love being outdoors, going on adventures and trying all kinds of activities. We enjoy hiking, exploring new places, discovering nature and simply enjoying the little things along the way.

We are both very open-minded, curious and sociable. We love meeting new people, sharing stories, discovering different ways of life and, of course, having a good laugh together!

During our time in New Zealand, we really want to experience the country beyond the tourist side. We would love to discover the Kiwi way of life, culture and traditions, meet local people and learn from the people we have the chance to stay with.

We are more than happy to help with whatever is needed. We are not afraid of getting our hands dirty and we are ready to take part in everyday tasks, gardening, taking care of animals, DIY, cooking or any other little jobs that can make your life easier.

We believe that Workaway is about much more than just exchanging a few hours of work for accommodation. For us, it’s about sharing, helping each other, learning, meeting new people and creating memories together.

We would be really happy to spend some time with you, share a meal, have a chat, discover your way of life and hopefully become part of your little corner of New Zealand for a while.

Yes, we do! We have a basic level of English and can generally understand what is being said. We would actually love to be part of a family’s daily life, as we think it would be the best way for us to learn more easily and improve our English quickly.

Bertille 🌸
I am a childcare worker, so I am very comfortable with children and really enjoy taking care of them. I am a hands-on, versatile and resourceful person. I love being creative, making things and cooking. I am also very organised — I have to admit, I actually love tidying and keeping things in order!

I am just as happy doing gardening, DIY, painting, helping around the house or getting involved in any kind of project. I adapt easily and I am always happy to get my hands dirty and learn something new.

Julien 🔨
I am a professional rope access technician and a former Paris firefighter, so I am used to physical work, challenging situations and working at height. Carrying, building, repairing, maintaining things or working outdoors is absolutely no problem for me!

I also enjoy DIY, gardening and cooking. I am always happy to learn new skills and get involved wherever a helping hand is needed.

Together
We are a bit like Swiss Army knives — we can adapt to almost any situation! We are independent, motivated, curious and always happy to learn and help.

Whether it’s looking after children or animals, gardening, cooking, helping around the house, DIY or more physical work, we are up for it! We love getting involved, discovering new things and being useful wherever we can.

We love the simple things in life, meaningful exchanges and discovering new things.

Most of all, being outdoors makes us happy! We never get tired of hiking, and board game nights are something we enjoy even more!
