Hello! We’re Kimmy & Ross (a British couple in our mid 30s) 👋

We’ve been fortunate enough to do a fair bit of travelling, and we’ve lived in a few places too - together and solo (the Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Finland, South Africa)...
But this time we wanted to join Workaway to find ways to really contribute to the places we’re visiting and to explore with even more purpose… (cliché but true!)

At the end of August, we quit our jobs, moved out of our place in Barcelona, put all our earthly belongings in storage, and flew to Sri Lanka (our first stop!) 😬

This marks a new chapter of our lives, and we want to do it right: by connecting deeply and investing wholeheartedly in the people, projects, and communities in the places we’re travelling.

We’re both always armed with a sunny disposition, a can-do attitude, a healthy amount of curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in! 💪

Yes, we'd be open to teaching. Both of us have EFL qualifications (TESOL & TEFL) and have experience teaching English in different countries to variety of age groups and English levels.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

BOTH OF US:
🌾 We've worked on fruit and vegetable farms so we're up for a physical challenge, we’ve done some basic agricultural, field, and packing work.

📚 Certified EFL teachers with lots of experience teaching English to different ages, levels, and to different nationalities.

⛺ Taught, lead and organised activities in several summer camps so we have all the skills needed to get stuck in when it comes to classes, sports, games, projects etc.

🤝 Volunteered at various homeless food banks, shelters and fundraising events which has developed our empathy for those in need, food preparation, support skills, and more.

🛏️ Various roles within hostels/hotels, from reception and events to kitchen/restaurant work and overall site upkeep and improvements!

KIMMY:
✍️ My day job is as a creative marketing copywriter, so words are my thing! Need website content? Promotional material? Signage? Social media? I'm your girl!

🍽️ Though I’m not a professional chef, I like to think that I’m a good cook. I have a great passion for it, love learning new things, and am happy to whip up a meal for anyone!

ROSS:
🌳 I worked for a garden maintenance company (have also done some basic landscaping). Think trimming, weeding, planting, putting in fences, mowing, and clearing!

🚐 I spent time as the “bit of everything” man at a caravan park, so I’ve got the skills needed for general maintenance like painting, cleaning, gardening, and admin.


🖐️ If you need a hand, we’re up for it! We love to help – whether it puts our professional skills to use or is more about being available for day-to-day needs! 🖐️

KIMMY:
I love reading, writing, poetry, etymology, learning about places, people, cultures, and just generally being curious!

ROSS:
I'm a sporty person! I love cycling, keeping fit, and staying active! I also have a very keen interest in anything geography related.

We're both sociable and genuinely live by the mantra "It's nice to be nice!"
