Currently at a Workaway near Lyon, France. Always open for ideas! 😁

Beschreibung

I'm a 26 years old guy who was born and raised in Belgium. Currently I'm travelling in West-Europe (mostly France and Spain), looking for interesting Workaway experiences.

Since I was young I have been thinking a lot about the way we live our lives. I followed the
mainstream way of life, until I realised that I was not happy with the life I lived. I felt that there was so much more to it, things that I hadn't seen and lived yet.

So after feeling stuck for some time, I started considering doing Workaway to try and explore different ways of living and challenging myself by getting out of my comfortzone.

Right now, I have been doing Workaway for about 6 months, and starting this journey has without a doubt been one of the best decisions in my life!

Furthermore, I find peace in nature, and I place a lot of value in genuine connections with other people. Helping people is what gives me a sense of fulfilment.

Dutch is my native language, and I have a good proficiency in English as well. This means I can help others with learning either of these languages. My French and Spanish are at an intermediate level. I am actively working on improving both and can communicate in both, as long as my conversation partner doesn’t speak too quickly and uses common vocabulary.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I posses different kind of skills:

Since I started doing Workaway I started practicing some DIY/construction skills. I am still a beginner but I really enjoy learning about it. Things I tried for the first time are placing insulation, plasterboarding, plastering, painting, basic woodwork, etc. I also learned to work with a variety of machines.

I have experience in gardening. As a student I worked in a gardening business during my holidays and I also did a lot of gardening in our own garden at home. I also have experience with strimmers/brush cutters, chainsaws, etc. I have also worked in an orchard.

I have a lot of experience driving cars, as I have driven a big amount of different cars (also vans, 4x4 and even a first experience with tractors).

In Belgium I worked as a social worker. This lead to developping my social skills in general. I worked a lot in a team with daily meetings etc.

During my time as a student I have also worked in hospitality industry as a waiter.

As I mentioned before, I also am able to speak multiple languages.

I have always been sportslike and practised multiple sports. I have a Yoga/training mat with me while doing Workaway for extra physical exercise. I am able to teach flexibility and core stability exercices for beginners.

Very recently, I learned the basics of horseback riding. I really want to do more of this and want to gain more knowledge about these (and other) animals.

Finally I would like to mention that working really organised and precise is also very important to me. If something needs to be done with a lot of attention and focus, you can count on me!

Was noch ...

I think I can say i'm pretty mature for my age. I can enjoy a party on some occasions, but partying and drinking are not what i'm looking for with this experience. I don't mind other people having a drink, and may occasionaly join. But for me that is not my focus.

I'm health aware but still trying to find my own way in this. I do however respect other peoples views/opninions.
