I’m currently based in Aarhus, Denmark, and taking a gap year. I’m interested in connecting with other travellers, sharing experiences, and possibly meeting up for a coffee, a walk in nature.
Beschreibung
I recently graduated from gymnasium and am currently taking a gap year to explore new places, people, and ways of living. I would love to get the opportunity to spend more time in nature and get a pause from the busy city life. I would also love to learn more about other countries and cultures and maybe learn more about sustainable living. What motivates me is being useful, getting my hands involved, and becoming part of everyday life where I am. I feel happiest when I’m kept busy, whether that’s working with others, listening to or playing music, spending time with friends, or taking trips out into nature. Right now, I work at a small bakery and café in Aarhus being genuinely interested in good coffee, good food, and sharing it with others.

I’m curious and enjoy contributing where I can. I like stepping outside my comfort zone and meeting new people.

I’m interested in teaching languages and am comfortable helping with English, as I had English at a teaching level in gymnasium . I enjoy explaining things and helping others practice . I’m also interested in learning German, as it’s the only other language I’ve had formal teaching in. I’m especially motivated to improve my speaking skills and would love to learn through daily interaction.

Was könntest du arbeiten?
Through working in a bakery and café, I’ve gained experience with customer service, working in a busy environment, and being part of a small team where reliability and cooperation really matter. I’m used to early mornings, staying organized, and helping out wherever needed.

I’m happy taking direction and learning new skills. I enjoy practical work and don’t mind repetitive or physical tasks. I try to bring a positive attitude to whatever I’m doing and love doing things properly.

vom Host (Rebuilding an ancient village ...) für Workawayer ()

Hi there, Jakob was staying with us for roughly one month and was very easy to integrate. We worked on all sorts of projects togehter and in additon to handeling them well he was great company to have arround. Also knows how to buisy himself!

Thanks a lot for the visite Jakob! Next time you come you come as a freind :)

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Rebuilding an ancient village ...)

What an amazing experience it was being in such a unique village! The location in the beautiful mountains of Fiscal was exceptional, making you go "woah" at least once a day. I feel really lucky that my first workaway got to be in Puyuelo.

The work was a lot of fun, about four hours a day with a short break in the middle and the weekends off.… read more The work varied a lot from day to day, so there was always something to learn: We built stairs with stones from the valley, chopped down trees and wood, debarked wood for a woodshed, and did gardening, planting potatoes and onions. Most work was outside and physical, but if you had any issues, they were more than happy to give you a break, another less physical task, or just letting you take the rest of the day off.

Being a community, there's really space for you and your ideas, your habits and personality - whether you are an introvert or extrovert person, you'll feel most welcome right from the start. It is a unique chance to gain insight into a collective lifestyle with a really friendly group, working together and using natural recourses sustainably. Communicating with them is therefore easy since you live close together in the village, and there's also a meeting every Sunday to talk about how you're doing, and if you need anything.

I stayed from mid-March to mid April together with one other workawayer. I had my own house, the Hereria (the old blacksmith), which had a big stove to keep me warm during the cold nights, as well as a kitchen area, which Aidan (the other workawayer) and I used for breakfast in the morning.

Around 2 pm, everyone had lunch together in the common house - really well made vegetarian food with some homemade ingredients. Dinner was mostly just with the other workawayer, so it was great to have someone to hang out with, and I'd definitely recommend staying with other workawayers.

The area had so much to offer from hiking to mountain views, bathing in natural pools in the river, and birdwatching in the mountains. You could also explore other communities/villages in the area and meet great people there. If you didn't feel like doing anything after work, you could always enjoy the atmosphere in the village.

They also hosted a fantastic spring celebration where people from all over the valley came together to celebrate spring.

Even just talking over a beer after work gave so much to the experience. I never thought I would leave feeling so inspired and with a different perspective on things.
