I am a friendly and creatively driven individual. I come from the south west of England, with ancestral roots from Scotland. I have lived and worked independently in Bristol and Cornwall since leaving home eight years ago. I adore music. I am a practicing musician, and bring my music with me wherever I go. Throughout university, I played as a bassist in my band, and on my own I play original folk music (acoustic and electric). I graduated with a Bachelor BA in Popular Music from Falmouth University in 2023.

Over the past year, I have reconnected with my family home in North Devon, helping my folks in many ways with their house and saving funds for traveling. At 27 years old, this will be my big and bold venture away from home. I'm so excited by the prospect of traveling and finding like-minded and wonderful people to learn new skills and knowledge from. I'm great with children and animals, and take pride in being a respectful and friendly lodger to whomever.

I'm looking forward to travelling to Australia in September. I'm on the lookout for any workaway hosts that can help me intergrate into the new culture there and teach me new skills.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

My skills:
- Experienced kitchen worker. I'm tidy, efficient, and love to cook. I've worked in many kitchens.
- Experienced hospitality worker. As well as my kitchen work, I've served so many people with a friendly face. I love good interactions with people!
- Gardening. I've yet to work as a gardener professionally, but I want to! I have experience volunteering as a gardener for National Trust, at Glendurgan Garden. It's a tropical garden in Cornwall, and I learnt a lot from the gardeners there. I'm constantly tending to my folks own garden at home as well - it's a small and wild paradise for birds.
- Music. I can entertain you with songs. My solo stage name is Jake Ælfred, and by that use of old english you'd probably assume I love folk music. Welsh, Scottish, Irish and English folk music holds proud in my heart, and I sing covers as well as original songs. I would love to practice teaching music, as I am intermediate in guitar and bass playing. I'm also a practicing drummer.

Was noch ...

I have a basic understanding of carpentry, but it's another skill I'm hoping to learn. Basically, I would happily be someone's apprentice if they had the know-how. I have a passion for learning, especially since graduating from university. Music is my passion, but I wish to fill my life with other, practical skills.

I try and journal as much as possible. I definitely need to read more, but I've read a lot of books so far in life. I'm hoping travel will allow more time for books. I'm awful at playing cards, but love board games! Especially Catan.

I've also spent a lot of time sailing growing up. I've spent most of my life living by the coast and hope it continues that way. I'm a beginner surfer, having started in early 2022. I'm very, very interested in coastal living and potentially more sailing. As a teenager, I reached the RYA qualification of Assistant Instructor, though my knowledge now definitely needs refreshing. I love being out at sea. I've spent multiple seafaring journeys aboard Irene of Bridgwater, an 100ft long ketch.
