Hi! We're 27 and 28 years old and grew up in small villages in the South and North East of England, surrounded by countryside and animals. We've always had dogs, black Labradors are our favourite, and spending time outdoors has been a big part of our lives from a young age. Growing up like this has made us naturally adventurous, and we love getting out into nature whenever we can.

Some of our favourite experiences have been hiking in the Himalayas, going on safaris to see tigers, and searching for orangutans in the jungle. These trips sparked a deep curiosity about the natural world, especially wildlife and conservation.

We're very active and enjoy staying fit. Jacob played rugby for many years and now spends a lot of time running, going to the gym, and challenging himself physically — especially outdoors. He loves the peace and simplicity of nature and being away from the noise of cities, although he's partial to the occasional adrenaline-filled adventure!

What really motivates us is learning from people, from nature, and from new experiences. We're keen to develop new skills, try different types of work, and understand how people live in different parts of the world. At the same time, we like to bring positive energy to the places we're in. We're hardworking, practical, and enjoy solving problems, but I also have a good sense of humour and don't take myself too seriously.

South America is exciting because of the incredible biodiversity and we're very eager to learn more about conservation and sustainable, climate-conscious practices.

During our Workaway experiences, we hope to learn as much as possible — not just about wildlife and conservation, but also about practical skills, local cultures, and new ways of living. We also enjoy sharing what we know and helping wherever I can. Our background in science and engineering have made us organised, reliable, and good at finding solutions when things don't go to plan.

We are both native English speakers. Ellecia studied Spanish up to 18 years old and has some qualifications, she has spent the last 6 months relearning Spanish and is very keen to progress! Jacob is always keen to learn new things too!

We are both hardworking, practical, and people-oriented individuals who enjoy getting stuck into new challenges and helping wherever needed. We adapt quickly to new environments and take pride in doing a job well, whether it's physical work outdoors or supporting projects that involve people, sustainable farming, animals, or conservation.

Practical & Outdoor Skills
Experience working on farms and in rural environments
Comfortable with manual labour, lifting, cleaning, and physical outdoor work
Physically fit, active, and happy working long days when required
Good problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to tasks
Able to work independently or as part of a team

Animals & Conservation
Strong interest in wildlife, ecology, and conservation
Experience caring for animals in professional settings (including dog kennels and summer camp animal care) - Jacob previously worked as Head of Animal Care at an American summer camp, responsible for animal welfare and educating children about animals and the natural world

University backgrounds in Biology (Jacob) and Natural Sciences (Ellecia)
Knowledge of ecological and biological fieldwork, including sampling and observation
Passionate about sustainable and environmentally responsible practices

Working with People & Teaching
Friendly, approachable, and comfortable working with people of all ages
Experience tutoring students in science and other subjects
Enjoy teaching, explaining concepts, and supporting learning
Strong communication skills and positive team attitude
