Hello!! My name is Fredric Hirsig and I am a half Swiss and half English 21 year old currently living in England. I have just graduated from University (studying Philosophy and Psychology) and decided that it was the perfect time to try and explore outside of what I am accustomed to. Japan was the perfect destination! This beautiful country I am fascinated by, from the pop culture, the sprawling cities, gorgeous countryside, and a rich, vibrant history that has been upheld for hundreds of years.

In the year that I will be here, I hope to improve my Japanese language level, experience the different modes of life on offer here (mountains, cities, countryside etc.), and of course to make and meet many new friends! Essentially I want to push and put myself out there in order to gain as many new experiences as possible. I am open to anything and everything.

I am an energetic and open person open to any experience at all. Friendly and agreeable, with a general interest in life itself, I am willing to approach any situation with no preconceptions, preferring to find out through hands on experience.

In my free time, I love to read fiction books, listen to many different kinds of music, and playing sports with my friends (mostly football - I am English after all!). I also love working with animals, and have experience babysitting children and working in hospitality.

I have a certificate to teach English as a foreign language for any and all ages. Of course I am also interested in learning Japanese. I am currently doing a Japanese language course for a month and fully intend to continue with my education while I move around the country in order to integrate more easily.

Was noch ...

As I briefly mentioned, I am an avid lover of literature, it's my dream to one day open my own bookshop!
Otherwise I love music, including having a Grade 7 level in classical guitar. Philosophy is also something I am deeply interested in. I am considering going back for a Master's in Philosophy in a few years, once I have taken the time away from education in order to experience the world directly. Also a big lover of sports, especially football as I am a big Arsenal fan as I grew up in North London - although I won't hold it against you tooooo much if you aren't. But I am interested in many things, generally speaking. I appreciate good TV shows and movies; I would like to start learning how to crochet in order to make little things as presents; and to add designs to clothes I own; I also like writing, I used to write little stories for my family at Christmas when I was younger, and currently keep a journal; as I don't get much exposure to nature in London, I love going on hikes and nature walks when I have the chance, and living in rural Japan for an extended period of time is certainly something I intend to do; I also have some experience with gardening and renovation work.

Most importantly though, I love meeting new people and having interesting conversations; everyone is unique in their own ways, from their own hobbies, interests and personal dreams and aspirations.
