Hi! I'm currently in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Activities/interests include: yoga, meditation, chi gong, hiking, surfing, alt. education, learning about permaculture, and exploring indigenous cultures.

Beschreibung

Hi! I'm Ethan. I enjoy spending time in nature, exploring new cultures and continually learning about and connecting with the people and world around me.
I'm a school teacher by profession, having taught various grades/age levels, from 5 to 18 yrs. old, and in a variety of different programs including a high school program for "at-risk" teens. I've also taught in the elementary school classroom, as well as Jr. high and elementary physical education.
I recently left my position to travel and pursue a lifestyle that allows me to care for and live more in harmony with nature. Incorporating education and nature into my life would be the best of both worlds!
I have always been a spiritual seeker and explorer in some form, whether it be through travel or my hobbies/activities which include yoga, learning how to surf, qi gong, meditation, hiking, gardening, and talking philosophy - especially the eastern philosophies. I live a healthy and active lifestyle and am open to a variety of work experiences, with an interest in permaculture and sustainable / organic farming, education, and various retreats (yoga, meditation, etc.).
I have spent time in Europe, Asia, Central America, and most recently South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, and Uruguay).
I had a fantastic time doing Workaway on several organic farms there, and am hoping to have more of the same in whatever location life takes takes me to on my next adventure.
At this point in my travels/life, I'm looking for deeper, more meaningful long-term experiences that allow me to better engage with and help support the projects and communities that I am involved with.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

In addition to teaching experience, I have worked as an EMT/ambulance driver, and have a number of other job experiences and skills. I recently worked for four-and-a-half months in a tree-house hostel in the forest performing a full range of hostel duties (reception, check-in / hostel tours, maintenance, leading group meditations, etc.).
I have experience with gardening, general maintenance, and animal care / farm work.
I also enjoy practicing and teaching qi gong (a form of moving meditation) and self defense, and I enjoy sharing this practice with others. I am a responsible and hard-working individual, physically and mentally fit, with an overall strong work ethic.

I am always excited to take a new adventure! I travel to connect with nature, as well as to learn about different cultures and increase my knowledge/skill base for sustainable and organic living. I look forward to learning from others and also to sharing any knowledge and skills of my own. I will always be respectful of your home and your space.
