Hi there! My names Dom, currently travelling across Asia!
What brings me back to Workaway is my genuine desire to help others.
Back home I’ve worked for several years as a Senior Support Worker, supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and those facing homelessness. It has been an enjoyable experience managing teams and services, loving every chance I've had to make a difference to the lives of others and the local community.
Outside of work in the UK, I’ve spent quite a bit of time volunteering abroad. I’ve worked on farms, eco projects and in hospitality across the Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain, Slovakia, Serbia and India. Helping with animals, gardening, general maintenance, cleaning and hospitality duties. I also spent 3 months between schools in Botswana teaching and helping to gain funding for a learning disabilities unit in the Kalahari district. Lastly, I have also been very lucky to have led a UK volunteer team for seven months around the Sindhuli district of Nepal where we worked with a team of Nepali volunteers to help the local schools through teaching, doctors surgeries through fundraising and the general community of Sindhuli with whatever was in our reach working alongside UKAID.
I’m not afraid of hard work! Happy to lone work, just as much as in a team! Learning as I go along is what I enjoy best. I love the outdoors, meeting new people, and having a laugh/making connections along the way.
