Hello! I’m Catherine, an adventurous, animal loving (especially dogs) and tea obsessed British person currently travelling around Latin America with my partner, Camille.

Hello! I’m Camille! I’m half Belgian, half English, I love the outdoors, moving around, trying new things (especially food) and eating chocolate.

We have both taken a break from careers in London, Catherine as an editor for children’s books and Camille as an economist and policy maker in the Department for Education. We’d love to volunteer as we travel to learn new skills, get to know a place in depth, meet and make connections with new people, and contribute to the community we’re visiting.

As scout leaders in England, we love working with children and being outdoors - be it hiking, camping, cooking or teaching them new skills, like whittling a tent peg, it’s our favourite time of the week. We are creative people, with a passion for pottery (something we do back home - we have many homemade mugs!) and love learning new skills. We also love a bit of home DIY and before travelling spent months repainting and retiling rooms in our flat. We also attempted to create our own veg garden and successfully grew our first tomatoes and some parsley!

Catherine has worked as a waitress, teacher and summer camp councillor in the past. Camille has worked in retail, volunteered doing construction work in Moldova and Croatia (brick laying, painted and gardening) and regularly volunteers in soup kitchens around London. We’re not afraid of long hours of hard work and both thrive when working as part of a team.

We’re excited to get involved, learn new things and contribute wherever we can!

We can offer the following skills:
- Cleaning & tidying up
- Cooking (Camille is an excellent and adventurous cook, Catherine prefers baking - especially cinnamon rolls!)
- Animal care, especially dogs and cats
- Gardening
- Light DIY - such as painting
- Teaching English (Catherine is a qualified TEFL teacher and taught English in Vietnam and online from 2020-2021)
- Teaching French (Camille is fluent in French & English)
- Childcare
- Writing (copywriting)

Skills we can offer:

- Cleaning & tidying up ~ Catherine regularly cleaned the restaurant she worked in before opening
- Cooking (Camille is an excellent and adventurous cook, Catherine prefers baking - especially cinnamon rolls!)
- Animal care, especially dogs and cats ~ Catherine grew up with 4 dogs, Camille grew up with 1 dog
- Gardening ~ we created our own veg garden on our balcony, Catherine used to weed and mow the lawns for her dad, and Camille dug up potatoes when a scout herself!
- Light DIY - we repainted 5 rooms in our flat (including kitchen cupboards and the living room ceiling), Camille retiled our bathroom and sanded the doorways
- Teaching English (Catherine is a qualified TEFL teacher and taught English in Vietnam and online from 2020-2021)
- Teaching French (Camille is fluent in French & English)
- Childcare ~ volunteering with the scouts (kids aged between 10-14) every Wednesday for a year, as well as taking them on weekend camping trips and day trips around the South of England
- Writing (copywriting & creative writing) ~ Catherine worked as an editor for 4 years which included writing marketing copy for books

Very open to learning new skills and getting out of our comfort zone!
