Hi I'm Ben! Currently in search of some meaning and purpose in this life, so have taken the drastic last minute leap to a country half way around the world. I love to draw and make things, and although it's been severely underused recently, I'm looking to flex my creative muscle and see what comes from it. I love to explore new areas, trek and get involved in any outdoor activity. My passions are skateboarding, kayaking and playing the guitar and piano! I've spent the last few years of my life cooped up in a variety of commercial kitchens, and while I often can get a buzz from cooking good food and a busy shift, I'm looking to turn my attention to work outdoors and more people and planet focused. I'd love to learn more about the natural world, sustainable farming practices and maybe even a little eco/green construction. Family is really important to me as well as meeting people from all over the world. It's amazing to hear different perspectives, see different lifestyles and develop real connections and a network of friends from all over the place.
Another big goal of my New Zealand trip is to learn to properly surf! I've always dabbled and loved the idea, but now I want to put that into practice and tick off as many of my bucket list goals as I can.
Life is short and I want to push myself to really live it. Hope I can get to meet some of you and be a part of yours, even in some small positive way.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I've worked in the hospitality industry for the last 4 years as a cook, baker and waiter during and after completing my Biology undergrad. After falling into this profession at uni I have developed a real love for kitchen work and like the rush of a busy shift and finding that 'flow' state. I love to push myself to learn new skills, be it at work or just as a hobby. This has led me to being a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none. Despite this, I'm a hard worker and am keen to learn as much about new trades or ways of living as I can.
I've also trained and worked alongside adults with learning difficulties during a couple of my roles and really enjoy being able to build relationships and others confidence while working alongside them.
In my spare time I've made small projects like a mini ramp, woodshed and have just started to build my own skateboards. While this is all very amateur, I've enjoyed the processes a lot and would love to pursue any projects like this. I'm also very up for getting stuck into learning about permaculture/renewable farming come rain or shine.
If you're looking for someone that's friendly, reliable and a hard worker, I hope we can work together.

Was noch ...

Although I love the outdoors and enjoy trekking, kayaking, swimming and skating, I'm down to try anything once! In my downtime my family and I are big into board games (Catan, Agricola, Chess) as well as setting up fires and having a sing along. Really I'm just looking for like minded people that are finding new ways to care for the planet and to explore/make the most of this life
