I'm not an EU citizen, but I hold a Hungarian residence permit, which lets me travel freely in the Schengen area. Happy to discuss the details with any host who has questions about my situation.

Hi! Since 2015 I’ve been wondering what it would feel like to live in the north for a while. Scandinavia has had a hold on me for a long time, and Norway most of all, since I have some family friends in Oslo. I'm not sure yet whether I'm romanticising The North or whether there's something genuinely there for me, and a month of Workaway on a farm or rural project feels like the best way to find out in my current circumstances.

I work online, which gives me flexibility, and I'm at a point where I have the time and energy to combine that with something more hands-on. Most recently I helped renovate a flat here in Hungary - my main job was wood restoration on windows, doors, and doorframes. I genuinely loved using my hands and power tools, and the exhaustion of it all, which surprised me. I'd like more of that, ideally in a setting that's outdoors, rural, or part of a community working toward something. I also have three years of café experience if there's any guest-facing or kitchen side to your project.

I'm a focused, careful worker. I take what I'm given seriously and I don't need much supervision once I thoroughly understand what's needed. I cook well and truly enjoy feeding people. I have some gardening and plant-care knowledge since my mom is a professional landscape artist/gardener, but I'd really love to learn more - that's a big part of why I want to do this. I'm comfortable around animals (I've had cats my whole life and have two of my own at home). I paint and draw in a copying, rather than creating way (check out my works on my instagram page @goga.grusha), and I do yoga most days.

Environmentalism and sustainability are at the core of what I believe in along with broader social and political justice causes. A rural, land-based, or community project is the kind of place I'd want to spend a month. I prefer cold over heat and I have a strong immune system, so Norwegian weather doesn't worry me.

And I have a bachelor's in linguistics, for what it's worth.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Wood restoration and DIY: I worked on an 19th century flat renovation in Hungary where my main responsibility was restoring wooden windows, doors, and doorframes. I'm comfortable with hand tools and the patient, careful work that wood restoration requires. I genuinely enjoy this kind of work and would be happy to take on similar tasks: maintenance on wooden structures, painting, sanding, finishing, or any general repair work where attention to detail matters.

Cooking: I cook really well and enjoy it. I'm comfortable cooking for groups, planning meals around what's available, and adapting to different dietary needs or ingredient limits. I'd happily take on a regular share of meal prep, especially if it means using fresh or homegrown ingredients.

Gardening and plant care: I have a basic foundation in gardening and houseplant care and I'm eager to learn more - this is one of the reasons I want to do Workaway in the first place. I'm a willing, careful beginner who can follow instructions well.

Teaching English and Russian: I currently teach English online and I'm a native Russian speaker. I've never formally taught Russian, but if anyone in the household or community wanted to learn I'd be happy to help.

Translation (technical): I have professional experience as a technical translator. If you ever need a document translated between English or Russian tasks for your project, that's something I can do.

Art - painting and drawing: I paint and draw, mostly in a copying rather than creating way. Not a strong fit for "running an art project," but if you have a space that needs a hand-painted sign, mural copying, decoration, or any small visual touches, I'd enjoy contributing.

General reliability: Not a skill exactly, but worth saying: I work online for a living, which means I'm self-directed and used to managing my own time and tasks. I take work seriously, I do what I say I'll do, and I'm equally happy taking direction or being trusted to figure something out on my own.
