Hello there, bula vinaka, and welcome to my profile, my name is Angie - originally from Australia and currently based in Fiji since February. I have Pacific heritage and a deep appreciation for the values ​​of connection, care, and collective living that are central to island life. I'm studying Social Work and love learning through community, travel, and shared experience. For me, volunteering isn't solely about helping, but it allows a space to grow, learn, and be part of something and new communities. I've now traveled 26 countries, mostly across the Pacific, Asia, and Latin America. During this time, each place has deepened my understanding of how people live, connect, and sustain community. I've volunteered with grassroots organizations in Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina - teaching English, supporting women's groups, helping on farms, doing general maintenance, and caring for animals. These experiences, along with my work in disability and trauma-informed care, have shaped how I approach life and work, with humility, adaptability, patience, and genuine curiosity. Here in Fiji, I'm continuing to learn the language (I speak intermediate Fijian) and deepen my understanding of Pacific cultures. My long-term goal is to engage in community-based social work abroad, but mainly at home here in the Pacific, supporting locally led initiatives that involve people, learning, and purpose whether that's childcare, English teaching, community projects, sustainable farming, or creative, lish teaching, community projects, sustainable farming, or creative hands-on work. I love finding ways to contribute that are useful and meaningful, and I'm always open to learning new skills along the way, in fact it's one of the best parts! I'm organized, reliable, and proactive, but I also bring a lighthearted side, I love to laugh, connect, and bring a calm, steady energy into group settings. Outside of work, you'll find me in the ocean diving or swimming, playing ukulele, reading, or chatting with friends over a card game. I love being outdoors, living simply, and finding joy in everyday things. Thank you for reading, I'm looking forward to connecting with hosts who value cultural exchange, kindness, and community. I hope to share stories, lend a hand, and learn deeply from the people and places I meet along the way
