Hello I am Anastasiya. I was born in Odessa, Ukraine where I spent my childhood. I have the warmest memories of those times. At age of 11 I have migrated with my family to New York City. I’ve called NYC my home for 16 years. There I’ve studied, worked various jobs, learned English, and have taken many opportunities to further expand my horizons. I have studied various subjects from Astronomy to early childhood education, psychology, a little bit of engineering and even got myself through a beauty school. I have strong desire to learn and although I haven’t been in an actual university environment in many years now, I take online courses monthly still in various subjects from quantum physics to Masters of wine and literally everything in between. In 2015 I embarked on a journey of self discovery through volunteering. It began during my trip to India. Upon return I’ve had a strong desire to give back. I’ve volunteered for AMHA at the time as well as a hospital, besides working a full time corporate job. But, I wanted to do more. So I joined workaway and decided to take sometime off from work and dedicate myself fully to volunteering. That year I also made one of the best decisions of my life to leave NYC and move to an enchanted island of Puerto Rico! So yes, for the past 9 years now I’ve been living this wonderful island life where I was blessed with a child who is turning 8 this August: He is in my photos. He is trilingual cello player, volleyball player, and overall amazing kid. His father and I have a beautiful coparenting relationship which gives me opportunities to continue my travels and live out my passions. I will be travelling alone at this time but hope to find opportunities to bring him along next year. He is my support system on this and is helping me choose hosts. He has been volunteering here in PR with me since he was 2.5 years old in a local garden and he is quite a seasoned traveler himself since he was 6 weeks old. A little more about me, I am a reader. I read on average 2 books a week. I am an animal lover. currently I have just a cat, but previously have fostered cats and dogs. I am a macrame artist, I run a few small businesses. I work remotely and able to travel and create my own schedule. I love photography. I fluently speak 2 languages. Spanish and Ukrainian are my secondary and I can carry a conversation. I love classical music and jazz, I am humble and easy to get along with but also love my solitude, I am a hard worker, I operate great in team settings as well as independantly, I enjoy a good glass of wine and love food! Although I’ve mostly been a pescatarian for past 10 years. i do not smoke. I deeply enjoy learning about new cultures and submerge in local lifestyles. My goal is to share my knowledge and experience and learn as I go.
