About Me
Hello! My name is Asuka Maruyama. I'm 29 years old and from Japan. I will be going to Finland on a working holiday visa for one year starting in September 2025.
I speak Japanese, and my English is at a conversational level (I often use gestures to help communicate!). I’ve just started learning Finnish.
In Japan, I worked in the event planning department of a local TV station in a place called Kagoshima.
I don’t have children, but on my days off, I love spending time with my nieces and nephew – they are 9, 6, and 3 years old.

Why I’m Going to Finland
About five years ago, when I was a university student, I visited Finland. I fell in love with the beautiful nature and the calm, cozy atmosphere of the towns.
Since that trip, I’ve dreamed of exploring more of Finland and living there for a whole year.

What I Want to Do in Finland
I hope to meet many people and learn about Finnish culture and everyday life.
I’m especially looking forward to going into the forest, picking berries and mushrooms – and I’d love to do this together with others, if possible!
I also want to improve my English and keep learning Finnish during my stay.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

In Japan, I worked in the event planning department of a local TV station. I was responsible for organizing and managing events, so I’m used to working with others and handling tasks responsibly. I enjoy working as part of a team.

I also love spending time with children. On my days off, I often play with my niece and nephews. I’m comfortable being around kids and happy to play with or help take care of them.

I can do general housework like cooking, cleaning, and laundry. I especially enjoy baking sweets, such as cakes and cookies.
At home, I have a small vegetable garden in summer season. I enjoy growing seasonal vegetables and spending time in the garden. If there are any gardening or outdoor tasks in Finland, I would be happy to help!

I’m still learning English and Finnish, but I do my best to communicate with a positive attitude and body language.

My hobbies are traveling, reading books, and taking walks. I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things, so I try to visit places that interest me.

Countries I have traveled to:
Finland, France, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Malaysia.
I have volunteered in Japan by picking up litter, fundraising for charity, and helping to build a slide for children.

I would like to share some pictures of my experiences in Finland on my SNS account because I want my family, friends, and other Japanese people to understand and appreciate Finland.
