We had a great experience volunteering at the mountain resort! The experience involved 3 hours work a day which allowed heaps of free time each day to explore the surrounding mountain region, go into Almaty city (about a 40 min bus ride) or just relax! The work mainly involved gardening such as weeding or raking leaves and also the occasional changing beds in glamp camp. There is room for the work to be more varied, however the surrounding mountain landscape and beautiful scenery made for a nice experience! We were also lucky enough to form a connection with a local park ranger Roma through Tal and got invited to stay in his mountain cabin which was just such an amazing and wholesome experience we will never forget! Tal gives lots of direction on the work involved and is always responsive and able to answer any questions you have. We had a really great experience and formed such good connections with other fellow Workaways, Tal and our local friend Roma that we will never forget! The accomodation in Tal’s apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay. There are plenty of hikes to do in the region and well worth taking the cable car up the mountain! The volunteer list for the cable car is updated only every two weeks so it would be worthwhile discussing with Tal when the new list will be done to ensure it’s not at the end of your Workaway experience. Spending time in this region is a highlight of our 6 month trip so far, very grateful for the adventures we had connected to our volunteer work.

Nicholas and Tracy were lovely to have to stay, very adaptable and uncomplicated and happy people, well grounded , (at least that was our experience in the short time we were together ). Nicholas is an accomplished artist and painted two amazing mandalas at our entrance which we will treasure forever .Tracy was previously a midwife and as I am super interested in medicine and people working in that field , I loved her company . This lovely couple are very interested in self development and Nicholas likie to help people release stuck energy through his work in the area of Holding Space . So if you are looking for help and some self development , enriching support, I can recommend Nicholas . He is good at what he does, as is his lovely wife Tracy . Respectful, hardworking , kind and loving , a pleasure for us to have them stay and help us , leaving some happy memories and amazing art work behind them on Kos .

I had a wonderful three-month stay as a volunteer here in Kerala. The experience not only enhanced my teaching skills but also deepened my personal practice. I appreciated the supportive community and made some good friends. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this ashram and would highly recommend it to others

Thank you so much for your wonderful words and for the time you spent with us in Arusha. It was a real pleasure having you here your energy, kindness, and willingness to help in so many different ways made a big impact on the children and the project. We truly appreciate the effort you put into the school construction and also the little everyday things you did with the kids. Volunteers like you bring not only help but also inspiration, and we are grateful for the positivity you left behind. You’re always welcome back anytime.

We stayed 2 weeks at Silke and Nick's place, and it was a great experience! We mainly helped to build a kitchen in the straw bale house, and also small tasks in the garden. Silke and Nick really pay attention to what you feel more confortable/happy to help with, and let us a lot of freedom on the work while always making sure we were okay :) We shared one or two meals together, as they also need some family time with their very cute 2 years-old son! They live in a beautiful giant olive trees field, where you cannot hear anything appart from the animals living in the forest. They even created hiking paths that you can follow to discover all the property! But be aware that it is a very off-grid place (no signal, no connexion appart from their wifi, no running water), so it might not be the right place if you are looking for a lot of confort. Thank you Silke and Nick for welcoming us and good luck with your projects! :)

We very much enjoyed having Brami (a nickname, his Polish name is a bit complicated ;) ) on the farm. He's easy going, ready to try different jobs, has a good feeling for the plants, and is an impressive nature guy. He went everywhere barefoot and shirtless, in hot sun and even on thorny weeds--very down to earth! He also has a lot of knowledge about medicinal plants and interesting insight into these things. He fit into our routine easily, and loved my cooking (always a plus for the cook). I recommend him as a volunteer.

Hello you two. I wanted to thank you for this intensive and wonderful time with you on the farm. It gave me so much; I learned a lot about working with plants, but also how hard it can be to work in such conditions as a European! James and Andrea are two wonderful people, very open-hearted and loving! I felt welcome from the very first moment, and that was confirmed! I also had the experience of looking after your farm and your wonderful dog, Shaka. A lot of time for myself and a certain amount of responsibility, which I also grew from. I'm sure we'll see each other more often in the future! Thank you for everything. See you soon. Your Christoph

I had stayed Harshit's farm for 3 weeks. Harshit told me living with nature, animals, and other people living near his house. I could experienced lots of things here. For example, we collect woods in the forest, and made tree house. It had not completed yet, but I enjoyed beautiful scene at the tree house. I also learned living in India. You can experience real life of rural area in India. I joined a marriage party in the village. Especially, I enjoyed meals of Harshit's mother and Harshit. They can make a lot of delicious food in India. I had been looking forward to eating everytime while I had been his farm. I learned how to make Chai, tea in India style, so I'll make Chai in my country. Finally, I want to say thank you for your kindness. I hope we can meet again.

Catalina and Thor are truly remarkable volunteers, full of love, kindness, and genuine care for both the children and the community. From the very first day, they blended in so well, showing great compassion and dedication to the kids at the academy. Their positive energy and caring hearts made a lasting impact on everyone here. They took the lead on a big project for our school’s social media, branding, and fundraising, and worked closely with me to ensure continuity for future volunteers. Their creativity, organization, and vision will continue to benefit our academy and the children for a long time to come. It was wonderful to see how seriously they took this responsibility, while still having fun and engaging warmly with students and staff. Outside of the project, Catalina and Thor were always ready to interact with the children, listen to their stories, and encourage them. They brought joy, laughter, and friendship, and the students loved them dearly. They were also very respectful and appreciative of our local community, which speaks volumes about their character. On a personal level, it was such a pleasure to host them. We shared trips, conversations, and great memories together, and they always carried themselves with kindness and humility. Mama Jane, Chris, and the entire team here enjoyed their company and will always remember their warmth. We wholeheartedly recommend Catalina and Thor to any host. They are not only hardworking and responsible but also loving, caring, and full of spirit. We are grateful for the time they spent with us and look forward to welcoming them back someday. Asante Sana, Catalina & Thor! —Victor

We had the wonderful opportunity to spend almost two months in Giaveno with Pippo and Cristiana. Neeltje arrived a couple of weeks before, and Mies joined later on. Both the individual experience and the experience we had together were very exciting. We were directly welcomed in a warm and open ‘community’. Cristiana and Pippo are both very willing to connect you with friends and family from the neighborhood (or further away). Both of them are very open and flexible and appreciate the same in us as workawayers. They also had very nice recommendations about the area, such as restaurants, hikes, castles and so on. The work that was expected from us was very reasonable and enjoyable. We mainly worked in the garden, cutting the bushes (perfectly round ;) ), mowing, collecting peaches, apples and figs from the trees. We were also very happy that we could help them with repairing some holes in knitwear and other clothing and fabrics. The sewing machine that we brought came in very handy! The apartment connected to their house where we stayed was very comfortable. It gave a good balance between privacy and connection. The house as well as the location is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail and the respect and preservation of historical elements are truly inspiring. The two cats; Leo & Nino and the two dogs; Punch and Barbabuc brought so much joy to our stay. They kept us very good company on the (very few) rainy days we had, since they are all very cuddly. They all have their own funny character and we fell in love with each of them. Going for walks with the dogs was very enjoyable and a good way to discover the surroundings of Giaveno. Due to illness we had to stay longer in Giaveno than expected. We cannot thank Pippo and Cristiana enough that we could stay at their home for a bit longer, even though new workawayers were already coming. We have felt very welcomed and cared for, a truly warm experience!

Lisa and Jeff,Thanks for everything. Thank you for giving me so many new experiences. Even though it was only two weeks, I was able to enjoy so many wonderful moments, and they have become unforgettable memories in my life. I feel like I learned so much from both of you, and maybe I wasn’t able to contribute much as a Workaway helper. Still, thank you for letting me experience so many things every day, and for taking me on hikes and to the ocean so often. Even though my English wasn’t very smooth, you spoke slowly and simply, which really helped me. I really hope to visit your house again someday. When I do, I’d love to become even closer with Jinx and Dot too. 🐾 See you again 💓

As with others from Taiwan, there is a much more original, beautiful and difficult to pronounce name behind the profile name. She is a very generous person, stayed for 2 months, did a lot of impeccable sanding and painting outside, helped harvest apples and cooked the most delightful Asian dishes. She claimed it was just everyday meals, but the taste was so delightful - much better than I ever had on any Asian restaurant (only comparable food I had was in Vietnam). I got addicted, but fortunately she left some recipes. We had a lot of nice and interesting conversations, cultural and culinary exchanges and some trips to Copenhagen and other cities and sites of interest. A big thank you and you are most welcome again.

Mateo stayed with us for two weeks, during a very busy time with two back-to-back seminars on the island. He supported us wonderfully in the kitchen and was always kind and approachable with the guests. Together, we also worked on a garden project, preparing a large patch of soil for the planting season. Mateo brought great energy, kindness, and super positive vibes to the team. He worked independently, with responsibility and dedication, and was always willing to help wherever needed. It was a real pleasure to host him, and I would be very happy to see him return to the island in the future!

I stayed with Tonje for about a month and I loved it! I dived into the Alaskan lifestyle as soon as she picked me up. From running errands , to meeting friends and taking care of the dogs - Tonje made sure that I was part of it. I learned a lot about hunting, just from listening to her and her friends talking about their passion. And she trusted me to smoke salmon for the first time in my life. Of course the dogs are an important part of the experience. And even if they are really big creatures, they are just big puppies when it comes to humans. I loved to take care of them and to take them on walks. Just the feeling of walking through the vast tundra accompanied by those wolvelike creatures was really great. There were slower and busier days and you have to stay flexible when it comes to plans. Because sometimes the weather is better or worse than expected, sometimes because something unexpected happens and somtimes because Tonje has a better idea. But if you go with the flow, you will definitely experience something new :) I am home now for almost a month and I am still sure - I will come back :)

Boey taught me valuable skills about camping and social media, and she worked very hard during her time supporting us. She respected our rules and was always considerate and sincere. We also had inspiring conversations about investment opportunities and travel stories—she has many great ideas and she is a free spirit, eager to discover the world in her own beautiful way. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable, kind, and enthusiastic person wo work with.
