I am so grateful to Guglielmo to be hosted in his beautiful place. I spent fantastic 9 days there and it was a blast. The location is gorgeous, so much greenery, orange and lemon trees, birds chirping, amazing sunsets and sunrises. The instructions were very clear and simple, Guglielmo was always in contact with me and did his best to accommodate me. I will be happily back here! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I spent two weeks at Phoeury’s school and it was a truly wonderful and enriching experience. The family is incredibly welcoming, always available, and made me feel at home from the very first day. Teaching English at this school was very stimulating: the students are incredibly sweet, respectful, and have a strong desire to learn and challenge themselves. They are very curious and enthusiastic, and it was exciting to see their motivation during the lessons.

I hadn’t logged in since my last trip, so my feedback is a bit late. In fact, I visited here about a year ago and had a wonderful experience. Zaldi, Nining were incredibly warm and welcoming. Thank you. Their home and lifestyle were completely new to me. Helping out for just a few hours a day, like planting, harvesting, feeding... learning language, enjoying activities in nature, cooking together, and sharing meals around the table were all great fun. I also had opportunities to go into town, so I was able to see the busy side of Palawan as well. It was a wonderful experience. I sincerely hope that this family and Al’s initiatives continue to succeed.

Our experience here was truly special and memorable. From the start, we were welcomed with open arms by a wonderful team of passionate souls. It was a pleasure to contribute to their incredible project of living off the land and bringing a mountain village back to life. If you’re looking to experience the authentic heart of Greece and immerse yourself in its culture, this is the perfect place. A huge part of that is the incredible food, masterfully prepared by the amazing Aleka. With the biggest heart, she ensures everyone is well looked after and never hungry. We also cherished getting to know Roula and Yannis, talented musicians who brought the culture to life. A particular highlight was helping in the tavern one evening and then getting to see them play, even joining in with some traditional dancing! Then there’s Trifornas, he is incredibly knowledgeable, hardworking, and always ready with a hug or a joke. Working alongside him is a chance to learn practical skills. The work itself was varied, from helping in the tavern and picking blueberries to various tasks in the garden. The schedule is very laid-back, so showing initiative is key to helping as much as you can during your stay. As someone who is naturally organised, I learned to adjust to the relaxed rhythm and go with the flow. You’re usually told the plan the night before, and you can request a day off when needed. We found being there without a car a little challenging, but it was absolutely worth it for the deep cultural exchange, incredible food, and wonderful people. We hope everything is going beautifully with the project and we would love to visit again one day. Sending hugs!

I had a really lovely time volunteering here. The house is beautiful and surrounded by olive trees, capers, and grapes, with beautiful hills all around. From the first moment I felt very welcome- Nazan and Arda are genuinely kind, open, and hospitable people who make you feel at home right away. The food was amazing and I could always cook what I liked in the kitchen in the volunteer house. The work was fun and varied, never overwhelming, and it felt good too. The accommodation was comfortable, with plenty of fresh air and nature during the day, and cozy evenings by the furnace. A special mention to the animals: very purry lap cats and the wonderful Chucky the dog, who quickly steals your heart. Overall, a great balance of work, fun, nature, and warmth. I’d absolutely recommend this place to other Workawayers

Peter was a wonderful and welcoming host. His property is beautiful and the eco house is a very homely and relaxing place to be. Staying with him was a real pleasure as he’s a talented and passionate musician and I loved sharing music, playing songs, and learning from him. We got to go surfing, played games, did yoga, and enjoyed great conversations which made the experience feel more like staying with a friend than a host. I’m very grateful for my stay and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a meaningful and memorable experience. Thank you Peter!

Johnny was an amazing host and we had an incredible trip! As we visited out of season we only worked for 2 hours a day, but our tasks were always varied and enjoyable! Johnny was very flexible with how we structured our time and was really great at facilitating the activities we wanted to do in our free time (which for us was a lot of walking in the beautiful surrounding area!) A highlight was being taken on a train ride through the forest to Notodden (since Johnny is a train driver!) which was a really unique experience for both of us. We loved the beauty and stillness of the area around Johnny's house, eating breakfast watching the lake progressively freezing each day, cuddling with Batman (the most friendly affectionate cat you will ever meet), and meeting the chickens and sheep! There was a lot of room for cultural exchange and chats about our respective home countries and life experiences, and Johnny was always willing to give us local/ seasonal recommendations (like the right Julebrus brand to buy!). Overall we really recommend Johnny as a host and our experience in Oklungen- you can really see just how much care Johnny invests in his home and into making it an enriching experience for anyone who visits! Thank you for our short but lovely stay!

Wow what lovely easy going girls. We so appreciated them both being so young but very mature polite and knowlegeble. Even when they did things for the 1st time they both worked it out and did such great jobs with everything they did. Always with a smile and eagerness. Very flexible and easy to accommodate and a delight to be around. Anyone who is lucky enough to have them offer to help I suggest don't turn them down. They have a very nice vechile to travel in and a pleasure to have with everything they do being 110%. I wish them all the best and they are both welcome any time in the future.

We had a fantastic experience staying with Hayley in the Bulgarian mountains. She is a lovely host who made us feel at ease right from our first video call. Her home is beautiful, and we had a very comfortable private room. What we appreciated most was how she consistently went out of her way to arrange fun and memorable experiences outside of work hours. We were never bored, enjoying activities like a traditional bagpipe festival, caving, and a fancy dress party. Not to mention trying all her musical instruments; she has a real talent for making you feel inspired! The local community was very welcoming, and it was a pleasure getting to know them. Hayley's parents, who live next door, also helped ensure we were well looked after. They even made my birthday during the stay feel truly special. Hayley is a fantastic cook, and with a fridge always full of goodies, you certainly won't go hungry! Regarding the work, Hayley was very flexible with the hours and was happy for us to arrange our work for her around our online work commitments, which we greatly appreciated. Our tasks mainly involved labouring work, helping to clear her land and make progress on her yoga studio. Thanks for a great experience, Hayley, and the very best of luck with getting your retreats started!

Fiona is the most helpful guest I've ever had! She is always ready and willing to help. She is very warm, friendly, polite and appreciative. She has travelled widely and we had a lot of interesting conversations. She is keen to learn new skills, and quickly got to grips with using a drill and spirit level, helping me put up some shelves. We were hoping to do some tiling, but I didn't manage to get the tools in time, I will have to send her a photo when it is done. She also did lots of very useful small jobs - washing some windows, weeding, tidying up in the garden and the shed, and painting over some ceiling vents.

Emma and Sydney stayed with us for the month of October 2025 and we had a hard time letting these two leave again as we became very fond of them. They are not only hard working, easygoing, and bright - they also show up on time and always with a possitive attitude towards the task at hand even if it is rainy and muddy and the task might seem rather tedious. On top of this they are openminded, easy to talk to, and have a lovely sense of humour. We're very pleased that they decided to volunteer at our place and we'd be happy to welcome both of them back anytime. And of course we give them our highest recommendations.

I'm grateful to have stayed with Bronwyn for 2 weeks all the while enjoying the gorgeous sunsets and time spent with her K9 companions. She's a kind soul who won't shy away from sharing knowledge about the best parts of Adelaide. A highlight for me was an evening hanging out in the city for the sole purpose of seeing live music. Thanks for the time, Bronwyn 🤙

Graeme and Alison (and the rest of their community) were wonderful hosts! I stayed with them for about a week and a half and Graeme even picked me up from the airport! They are all so generous and genuine and I felt really well cared for. They included me in their evening meals, plans with friends, and a meditation. Their home is beautiful and starting every morning together with a coffee made by Graeme was very special. I stayed in a nice separate caravan, and had use of all the facilities inside the house. For my work, I weeded and mulched the vegetable garden. I did the work by myself, but it was very pleasant. I am probably forgetting things here, but the overall message is great people and I would highly recommend them as hosts especially if you feel confident working independently. Thank you again!!!!! Maggie

We had an amazing experience with this host family during our Work and Travel journey. They were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel like part of the family from day one. The work was rewarding, and the pay was fair. We truly appreciated the supportive and friendly atmosphere, and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for a genuine and enriching experience.

Jodi and Kevin were great! I reached out last minute and they helped me out right away. I helped out around the farm and they taught me everything I needed to know. We had dinner together every night, they made me feel like I was apart of the family. It was a great time and I would recommend staying with them for sure!

I had a wonderful time staying with Josh. He made me feel comfortable from the very beginning, and he was always kind and thoughtful in making sure I felt at home. Working in the garden was a lot of fun, as it gave me the opportunity to learn more about plants and gardening, an area in which Josh has a lot of knowledge. I also loved taking care of the adorable chickens, and his garden is so beautiful and very calming, being there made me feel deeply connected to nature. We shared many deep conversations and I am very grateful to Josh for sharing so much of his life, his thoughts, and his knowledge with me. He also took me to see some lovely places around Auckland and introduced me to many wonderful people, including his family. Josh also has a great deal of knowledge about astronomy and the stars, and I really enjoyed stargazing with him on his roof. He made me feel truly comfortable and at home and genuinely became a friend to me. Thank you so much for the entire experience and for the many great memories ♡

From late October to mid December I stayed with Hafize and shared life with her for two months at the end of the year. She'd said that she doesn't get many volunteers during the winter, so my experience may have differred than other volunteers she's had. Hafize lives in a big house in the mountains south I'd the city of Antalya, a short walk from Altinyaka village. She has a big garden full of fruit trees, and the whole mountainside is covered pine trees. You'll wake up every morning to see a vista of snow capped mountains (well, in Winter at least). The mountains are beautiful and isolated, for those wanting to get away from city life. The village, Altinyaka, is a short 20 minute walk and has a small shop (the owner also operates a private bus to the nearest town for a fee). There's also hiking trails and the hills nearby are a fairly easy trek if you're looking for a change of scenery on the walk to the village. During my time with her we'd also taken a few trips to Kumluca - 20 minutes drive away -, and spent time together in a flat in Antalya - 50 minutes drive away - for a few days at a time while she visited friends and it was a bit warmer in the Winter (Hafize did mention that she likes to stay in the mountains in the summer to avoid the city's heat then...). I'd helped Hafize out with a mix of garden and house work mostly. Doing cleaning, and clearing the land initially. And preparing the house and garden for the winter. There were some tasks she'd wanted completed, like rebuilding a chicken coup or expanding her vegetable garden so they could be used in the Summer. Besides other sporadic things like collecting scrap wood for future building projects, harvesting her Quince, Fig and other fruits, or doing repairs following some heavy rain. Day to day life was simple, and mostly spent with tasks and time with Hafize (and her cats). Each morning I'd empty the fire ash from the night before and resupply the fire for the upcoming night (which was used for heating the house and cooking - though Hafize has a regular gas oven too). And otherwise tidying the garden and letting the chicken flock out to forage. ...Besides making sure the chickens also didn't sneak in and eat all the cat food too. Hafize makes all her meals at home, and there's plenty of opportunities to try local food with her. Fresh ingredients at the markets in town are affordable, so we seldom did without. During my time we were still harvesting fruit from the garden, which she'd often share with her friends in town or cook into jam or deserts. Oh, and the chickens kept us in a ready supply of eggs if you're wanting to use those for cooking breakfast. :) If you're wanting to spend time somewhere rural, Hafize is good company - and I can only wish more people come and visit. She was going through some hardship while I was with her, and it's a shame that my Turkish wasn't stronger so I could have been a better companion to her in that time. She's a lovely person, and I'm sure her place would be a welcoming home to whoever decides to stay with her next. I'd really urge other Workawayers to consider her profile if looking for a host in the area, and couldn't give her less than the highest rating here. Till we meet again Hafize. My time with you was precious. :)

We had such a great stay with Lisa, Bernhard, Theo and Levi. It was our first time in Austria and Lisa and Bernhard were so helpful in teaching us about Christmas traditions and their every day life, meals and language. Lisa is an amazing chef and had lots of knowledge about the surrounding mountains. We really appreciated she invited us snowshoeing on her day off. Bernhard was very patient in teaching us how to cut and store wood and to operate the wood stove. He is a fun person with a good sense of humour. The boys Theo and Levi are full of energy, so funny and cheeky. They are confident with strangers, which was awesome as they were comfortable to talk and play straight away. They understand English well and taught us some German words when we were playing ! We will miss their cute faces and voices. We had a lot of fun during our stay and got to experience alot about homesteading. Thank you for having us stay.
