Mariana was, without a doubt, a wonderful surprise. While Workaway experiences always bring something special, she truly stood out. Professional, dedicated, and incredibly lovely, she exceeded all expectations from the very beginning. She has a rare ability to brighten any environment with her constant smile and positive energy. Conversations with Mariana were always a pleasure: whether talking about travels, cultural aspects of Colombia, or the many places she has lived. Beyond her professionalism, Mariana brought warmth, commitment, and genuine care to everything she did. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We even made a deal: either she sends me an invitation or an acceptance letter, or I’ll send her my plane ticket to Colombia; a light-hearted joke that truly represents something deeper. A promise that our paths will cross again and that this connection goes far beyond time or distance. We are deeply grateful for having Mariana with us, and we are certain this is not a goodbye, but a see you soon. 🧡💙

If you have the opportunity to have Sophia and Lilli as volunteers, don't hesitate! They are amazing people, really hard workers, mindful, really good company and very very mature despite their young years. They helped me with dogs (who loved them very quickly!), planting, cleaning, groceries, and anything that they saw was needed. They were proactive and Sophia cooked amazing vegan meals! It was a pleasure to have them around and I wish them all the best for their upcoming adventures!

We spent a week at the the resort, helping the family mainly by working at the front desk, welcoming guests and helping with social media. While we were there Bounlisht was in Thakhek working at his agency, so we spent time with his wife Bountan, who is a great chef, the kids (playing a lot with Bieu:), the staff and Karis, another workawayer! We got along with all of them and they made our experience truly unique! Staying at the resort you will meet many travellers and have the chance to discover the quiet village of Nakai full of nice people and beautiful surroundings! We wish to the resort all the best from our hearts! GRAZIE di CUORE! Giulia&Enrico

Staying at the place was a very nice experience for me. I’m usually very stimulated, especially when I travel. Here, life is slower: you don’t take a scooter but a bike, you wake up naturally much earlier than you’re used to, you read a lot, and you paint murals. That said, this was my personal experience, and I feel it can vary a bit. If there are more volunteers than when we were there, the dynamic may be totally different. What is very nice is that the staff lets you do your own thing and help in areas you’re good at. You have bikes to enjoy the rice fields and banana trees around, and to go to amazing and cheap restaurants and cafés. The locals were incredibly kind. A couple paid for our meal, a coffee shop owner talked with us for an hour about her life and made us taste rice tea, and another person introduced us to her iguana. Truly wonderful people. Biking back from a day at the pool, the market, or a nice address during sunset were magical moments. And of course, the kids: they are very cute, and even though there is a language barrier, some of them actually speak very good English. Pantila, Mae Ni, and Baddy are extremely kind and attentive. The only things I liked a bit less were the mosquitoes (they sometimes drove me crazy) and the fact that the volunteers’ common room is also a classroom, with just a sofa at the back, so it’s not that cozy. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a slow-paced life and a truly local experience in Thailand ! go follow kadsalavillage in Instagram to get the vibe of the place ;)

Staying with José was such a great experience ! He truly invited us to discover his life, his art, visions, thoughts and way of living. Even though it was winter time, we could learn a lot about his edible forest, help him around and enjoy the region. We also have been able to practice our Spanish ! More than a simple Workaway experience, it is a dive into another universe, immersed into nature and the kindness of our extraordinary José. Muchas gracias José ! nos vemos pronto 😊

Maria has such a sunny personality even in the gloomy monsoon weather. She is always positive and enthusiastic as well as energetic. Her positive vibes made it easy to get along with her. She carried out her tasks well. Despite some language limitations, we have no problems communicating with her. I believe her English improved while staying at the farm. She cooked some lovely simple pasta dish and shared with us. She explained some of the Italian dishes and was amused to see the 'local' adaptation to italian food like pizza and pasta dishes. We hope to meet Maria again some day and wish her all the best..!

It was a pleasure hosting someone from our own country. Shin wanted to experience villages in Malaysia and we believe she had a good experience as we did having her help out with tasks at the farm. Shin is a fast learner, understands instruction well and able to carry out the task given to her daily. She fits in well with family and other volunteers at the farm. She is also able to converse and make our guests comfortable and feel welcomed. I would recommend Shin if you are looking for good, reliable volunteer.

AL was extremely flexible and understanding throughout my stay. I had to leave earlier than planned, and we were able to work everything out smoothly. He kindly offered to pick me up from the airport for 500 pesos, which is very affordable compared to other options in the area and highly recommended unless you plan to hitchhike and walk. The farm itself is a wonderful place, especially if you enjoy being in a remote and peaceful environment. I learned a lot during my time there and truly valued the experience. It was meaningful to be part of a place that is still rebuilding after COVID and the last typhoon, and I sincerely hope they receive the support they deserve to continue improving and growing. I really enjoyed my time at the farm and would be happy to return and volunteer again for a longer period if I come back to the Philippines. I'm grateful for the experience and would recommend this host to volunteers who are open-minded, flexible, and enjoy rural life.

My time with Jen and her family was the best first Workaway experience I could have hoped for! Their warm welcome (and immediately being included in their daughter's world of Harry Potter, music, gymnastics and her general creativity) made me feel right at home very quickly. I enjoyed the work with the horses as much as learning new skills around gardening and farming, like driving a tractor, fencing, chainsawing, caring for young chicks..the list goes on. No wonder I ended up staying far longer than originally planned! I especially miss learning about horsemanship, baking sourdough bread, playing with Alannah (hope your Academy is going well!), cuddling with Otis the most adorable Weimaraner and, of course, Chi Lye's amazing cooking. Thank you, Jen and Chi Lye, for being patient teachers, lovely people and great hosts!

I had a wonderful stay at Sasha's. Nestled in the outskirts of Pai, one feels truly immersed in nature, peace and quiet all around. The view is also exceptional. Sasha is a wonderful Workaway host. Welcoming, kind and sociable, our conversations were as engaging as humorous. Sasha's wide ranging life experience makes him a great storyteller and engaging conversationalist. Thank you Sasha, I had a wonderful stay! All the best!

I had a wonderful week with the students and the family of Mahesh. He is a very experienced English teacher and can adjust the teaching programs very quickly based on the students. I also learned a lot from his teaching skills. For me personally teaching small kids was really fun and we played a lot of games to practice speaking. We also had an English camp at the beach, which was so fun. Besides, we did Yoga together once and it's a very interesting experience for us both. I am very grateful for this opportunity that Mahesh gave me, even though this means that they wouldn't have any breaks between two volunteers. The family stay was also a lovely experience for me. Every day I feel I have three kids or siblings at home. Everyone is very different, but all are very cute and we shared so many lovely memories together. My last thank you must go to Rosemarie, who cooked three meals for us all every day and tried her best take care of me. She is also a wonderful teacher. I hope to come back someday and all the best to you all ❤️

Ida was our first Workawayer and we had a great experience! Ida is a gem. She was great playing with the kids, taking them outdoors and reading stories to them. She was very proactive in helping with household chores. We will always remember the special blackberry tart she made for us! Thank you for all your help during your stay, we appreciate it very much. We hope to see you again :)

(Writing from the perspective of new Workawayers) We were nervous at first, but thanks to Horst and Mareike, we quickly felt like this was our second home. We were glad to work on the farm, try some of the most delicious meals with the hosts, meet the animals every day (especially the chicken;)), go on tours around the island, try some local gastronomy, visit few cute and heartful stores, and more. If you are deciding whether to write here or not, you should 100% try. Don't be worried, the work is easy to manage, the accommodation is more than enough, and you won't leave the island with an empty belly.

Kaeley and Houston , what a great couple, they start with a smile on their faces and have a total " Can Do" attitude, whatever task is given to them they perform to a great standard and if it is simply hard work like filling a skip with building material , they just get on with it . They do though have a great skill base and will help/ advise and discuss options on whatever task they have to work on. They are a total pleasure to host and a joy to have around and also fun to have a beer with and put the worlds to right, it can take more than one beer on that subject. I would highly recommend this great couple.

She had made life easier and enjoyable for us. She is fun, caring and helpful. Thank you for everything that you have done for us, we appreciate it all! We look forward to seeing you again.

Words can't describe how much fun this experience was! I loved every minute of it. All of the volunteers were so welcoming and taught me everything I needed to know when I first started. Costa is such a fun and relaxed boss. The job is very easy-just cleaning, taking care of guests, and working the reception. Other than that, you can spend time talking on the patio with travelers, cooking meals together, or exploring the city with the other volunteers. This community was a blast to live in and I learned a lot! I will definitely be back in the future. :)

Our stay at Sabines place was truly wonderful! She is a very kind and welcoming host, and we felt comfortable from the very first day. We were accommodated in a beautiful wooden cabin, which was equipped with everything we needed. The work was fair and manageable, and expectations were always clear. One of our favorite parts was having Lunch with Sabine. It was a really nice moment to talk, laugh and connect. We really enjoyed our time with Sabine and can highly recommend her as a workaway host.

I stayed with Tanja for three months, and it was a really great experience — I sincerely recommend it. The family is super nice and very energetic. You never get bored with them! She welcomed me even though my English was really bad at the time. The work includes babysitting, gardening, cleaning, doing the dishes, and taking care of Toto, their dog. Nothing too complicated, but you do need to like children and enjoy spending time with them. Also, the dog is very gentle — he doesn’t jump on you — and you shouldn’t be allergic to cats because they have three of them haha. I now consider them like a second family. Time went by so fast, it was really fun to spend time with them, and I was able to improve my English a bit. Big hugs to Tanja, Síofra and Ronia, and Merry Christmas!🎄 Guillem from France

I had an amazing time at the hacienda, working with the dogs and helping with work where needed. The place is beautiful with so much to do. All the dogs are so friendly.
