During our time here, spring was in full flow, the land was abuzz with insect life, flowering trees and swallows shooting in and out of the old barns ✨️ Firstly, we have to mention the food. One word- YUMMMMMMMY! Áine is excellent in the kitchen, and somehow always miraculously came up with absolutely delicious dishes, incorporating fresh salad from the garden and divine dressings. As a an individual with specific dietary requirements, Áine took all this on board and was very generous in providing "Rowan-friendly" extras, cooking separately when necessary and even helping us discover new dishes 😋 We stayed at Áine's in our touring caravan, but we were also welcomed into the house and felt completely at ease there. Our dog, even got along with Bobby the cat, snoozing in the sun together. The work was also always varied and interesting (starting around 10AM & finishing at 4PM), with tasks in the polytunnel, cleaning bee frames, DIY jobs, gardening, planting, watering, strimming, hedgecutting, beekeeping and our favourite, going to the woods!!! We shall fondly remember Ol' Massey the "tharracóir" (tractor in gaelic), pulling out the logs and taking the trailer home loaded full with wood to process. We also loved splitting the wood and getting to use our axes. Additionally, I took an interest in beekeeping, which Áine helped facilitate by allowing me come along and help with the fascinating local Irish black bees she keeps. I learnt SO much from her and had thousands of questions which I bombarded her with at the dinner table, haha 🐝 Áine, we cannot thank you enough for your kindness, patience, generosity and honestly, being the highlight of our time Ireland 🇮🇪 Greetings to Bobby, Maude, Leah and Greggory and doubtless we shall be back to visit! 🍀

Mève was lovely and easy to host. She arrived in her own car which really helped given the remote location of my shelter. Having her own car allowed Mève to find a good balance between contributing at the shelter and also enjoying local attractions and experiencing the region. Her eagerness to go out by herself and gain as many experiences as possible reflected her independent personality. She also preferred a private room which she kept very tidy and clean. On the other hand, Mève was also very friendly and joined in with group meals and being part of our team and worked well with all the other volunteers. I’m glad Mève stayed and her genuine efforts and contribution was greatly appreciated.

I worked with Dingo for the 2025/2026 season, and he was a great host. Very helpful and communicative before starting the season, and provided clean and good quality accommodation. He was a great boss, and I really enjoyed my first ever ski season. It was great to be involved with the setup of the restaurant, and Dingo was very open to suggestions and ideas! I’d definitely recommend.

Lensa and Gaia we're 2 very sweet, respectful, kind and polite young ladies. Helped me with various tasks and we could even dive into some architectural dimensions hence they both study architecture. They ended up renting a room after their workaway period for their Erasmus exchange period. Also this worked out very well. Good luck with your studies and welcome back 🙏 😊 😘 💖

My experience at this place was simply incredible and, for me personally, one of my fondest memories from my four-month journey through Bolivia and Peru. Whether it was the property with its lovingly tended vegetable gardens and plants, the many animals (especially the dogs), the team, and of course the children. I felt very comfortable the entire time and found the work to be very fulfilling. Plus, Huaran’s location offers an incredible number of options for weekend trips—the market in Urubamba, Pisac, and other towns are all within easy reach. My personal highlight was definitely the hike to Cancha Cancha. Highly recommended!

I had a great time at the hostel ! I really enjoy to volunteer, the shifts were great and the commun area perfect for me to work on my computer and meet people. thank you, I spend 2 great weeks !

Irene was a very kind, friendly, and communicative host who welcomed us on very short notice. We stayed with her for about 10 days and enjoyed every single day of our stay. Everything was exactly as described, and there were no complications at all. We were more than satisfied with our experience and felt very comfortable throughout our stay. We would definitely love to come back and highly recommend Irene as a host!

It was amazing time with her and students were highly benefitted . She was the second volunteers from India that we hosted. She is focused on her assigned duty. I wish for her brighter days ahead.

I had a nice stay overall and felt welcomed on the boat. My role mainly involved helping look after the kids, supporting with schoolwork, preparing meals, and helping keep the boat tidy. The children were lovely and I enjoyed being hands-on and involved in daily life onboard. Anouk was clear that she didn’t want the arrangement to feel like formal “work,” more like everyone pitching in as hands on deck, which I appreciated. At times though, expectations felt a little unclear. There were never issues in themselves, but they did highlight some blurred boundaries around roles. I was encouraged to maintain a good work/life balance, and I appreciated being brought to land on days off. That said, even on my first day I was encouraged to go out on my own, which felt slightly unexpected given I had just arrived. At times I could sense some disagreements between Anouk and Reiss, and there was often an emphasis on “enjoying life,” which I took positively, though occasionally it left me unsure of what was most needed or preferred from me. A few practical things were mentioned the first night of my arrival, such as having a bigger fan in the room and fixing the bathroom light. Unfortunately they weren’t followed through on. This combined with not really having one-on-one conversations with both parents when the kids weren’t present, made me feel a little like an outsider at times, even though I never felt unwelcome. Overall I had a pleasant experience, but I think a bit more clarity around expectations, communication, and practical arrangements would help make the experience smoother for everyone involved.

Hans and Catharina made my first workaway experience unforgettable. I got to stay in their lovely little cabin for two weeks. They are very relaxed people with a warm heart and put a lot of effort in making me feel at home. Life on the island is very quiet and chill. I got to work in the garden mostly and did some projects around the house. Hans and Catharina are both great cooks and always made sure to provide enough nutritious food for my very hungry stomach. Best of all is the permanent availability of the legendary Swedish fikabröd such as kanelbullar, which are handmade in their small café/bakery. I was able to discover the beautiful nature on the island during the morning dog walks and on the bike that was available to borrow. As I am writing this, I realise that I forgot to clean the bike. Sorry hans! I will have to come back some time :)

I had a really amazing time here. You really get to know the dogs (especially the ones in your section) and the work you're doing matters. Laia and Oliver are amazing volunteers and people and do an excellent job running the shelter. The work is pretty messy (obviously it's a dog shelter) and it's a lot of walking so you will get in really good shape. The kitchen is functional so it's easy to cook for yourself. It was amazing and I loved all of it.

Sandro and Eliane live on this beautiful land and can really need a bit of help. Thank you for having me, I enjoyed the work, the walks and the creative dinners 🤟🏼

J'ai déjà fais d'autres volontariats, mais celui là restera le meilleur de ma vie ! C'était riche en émotion. J'ai adoré partagé des moments avec les adultes handicapés , ainsi qu'avec les enfants ! On s'attache énormément. Merci à Martin pour son accueil et sa gentillesse. Merci à Fauxy pour ces deux semaines inoubliables. Cam et Bapt.

La estancia con Wael ha sido sin duda una experiencia muy positiva. Es una persona con gran capacidad de adaptación, con energía positiva, empatía y una gran persona. Aquí tienes un amigo y espero vuelvas pronto para seguir compartiendo momentos. Muchas gracias por todo y hasta pronto amigo..!!

I felt welcomed and comfortable from day one, thanks to the supportive team and volunteers around. This is a place where you can be yourself and your strengths are valued and included in your work. The work is a nice mix of animal care and working on different projects, like building tasks, painting, repairing and helping out at events. You can try out new things without pressure - “learning by doing”. In our free time we spend time at lakes, with the animals, baking lots of treats, in the sauna, on bike rides or in the creative barn (it’s lots of fun, when you like being creative). In the evenings Petra took us to swim in the lakes with the ponies, on wonderful rides through the forest… Animals are always treated with respect and lots of love. Petra’s passion and drive for the farm is truly inspiring :) I would be happy to come back someday !!

Julien es una persona totalmente recomendable para participar en un proyecto social.. Estuvo un mes en nuestra fundaciony fue increible. La predisposicion, empatia y solidaridad se destacan en el. Compartio y colaboro en las actividades con los maestros, alumnos y se integro al grupo de voluntarios desde el primer dia .. Estamos muy agradecidos por todo lo vivido con el... Quedan muy buenos recuerdos, no se da con todos los voluntarios... Infinitas gracias
