I feel so lucky and happy to have found such an incredible place and, above all, to have met such wonderful people! Cristina has a beautiful personality; she’s pleasant, understanding, full of life, empathetic, and very, very generous. I am so grateful to have been part of the volunteers and to have shared and supported them in their needs. It was an amazing experience where I also practiced my English while they practiced Spanish with me. Plus, the place is surrounded by nature and we have the chance to meet their family too, they are amazing and very kind—I loved being there! ❤️ I will miss them and will always cherish those moments 🤗. Cristina saw the opportunity in me to give art classes, and it was an incredible experience. I highly recommend her as both a host and a friend! (: ✨🫶🏻

Adrien and Claire were an absolute delight to host — we honestly couldn’t have asked for better Workawayers. From the moment they arrived, they threw themselves wholeheartedly into every project, really believing in what we we're trying to create here. They worked hard, took initiative, and went above and beyond with everything they did. Whether it was collecting mulch, organising, building, or cooking delicious meals, they did it all with care, enthusiasm, and a great sense of humour. They were also incredibly tidy and respectful guests — thoughtful, easy to be around, and full of good conversation. We loved hearing about their passions and shared interest in music. We had lots of laughs over card games in the evenings, and by the time they left it felt like saying goodbye to friends rather than volunteers. Adrien and Claire brought so much positive energy and creativity to our place and left it better than they found it. We truly hope to cross paths with them again someday :)

Françoise and Dada are two kind and beautiful souls, heartwarming and welcoming. Their home is a sanctuary for wildlife and felt lile a special place ! I was pleased to be able to listen to the birds singing, and catching Françoise or Dada playing a few tunes. This is an interesting project and has a vibrant and colorful community, with a lot of events you can take part of. I had a lovely time at Françoise and Dada : lovely conversations, lovely food and a peaceful moments. Thank you for everything ! I could have a stayed a lifetime.

Betti stayed with us in her camper and was a lovely guest to have around. She wtoked hard on her set project, building a large garden bed with rock edging, including laying cardboard and mulch, leaving us with the beginnings of a beautiful new garden space. Even though she wasn’t feeling well for a few days, she still made sure to do her fair share and contributed meaningfully to the project. She's interesting to talk with and I would recommend to anyone. We appreciated her effort and wish her all the best on her travels and hope to see her again soon :)

I stayed with Steve for about 10 days, which for me was a good length of time. I really enjoyed the work, especially the gardening tasks such as weeding, planting, and taking care of the chickens. The work was clear, varied, and mostly outdoors, which I appreciated a lot. Steve is open and welcoming. During the day you spend a lot of time on your own, as he works as a courier driver , so the stay is quite independent. This was fine for me, but future volunteers should be comfortable with spending time alone and with a simple and close living situation. On one day I joined Steve on his postal route and helped out, which was a nice and interesting experience. His daughter Rose was there during the first few days and she was very kind, funny, and pleasant to be around. Overall, the experience had many positive aspects, particularly the work itself. Thank you for the opportunity and for the experience 🌟

It was a complete pleasure to host Jente. Jente helped us out with a variety of jobs, indoors and in the garden. She gave everything her best shot and was careful, diligent and hard working. She was also easy to get along with and have as a guest. We enjoyed her company very much. She quickly felt like family. We would have her back any time and trust her completely with our home and pets.

I spent two weeks there and it was a fantastic experience! Leyla and all the staff were very kind to me. The tasks are really easy, and you can choose whether you prefer to help in the kitchen, the garden, or other. I mainly worked on floral arrangements, like bouquets and mandalas, which I particularly enjoyed. Finally, the location is definitely worth the trip. You're truly immersed in the Sierra Nevada landscape, with the jungle, rivers, and mountains: very relaxing. It's not far from Palomino, and you can walk there. If you have the chance, I highly recommend this experience!

Tom has created such an incredible place. It’s so lovely to see how passionate he is about his work and the animals. I learnt so much whilst working here. Tasks varied from helping with fences, gates, building a new bed base, planting and creating new pathways in the bush. Although working with Tom didn’t feel like work at all. Highly recommend doing a workaway here, you’ll be sure to have a wonderful time and get to spend lots of time outside surrounded by the beautiful landscape, brush the highland cows on a farm tour and hangout with the goats, and Buddy and Freya, the two dog companions, will both charm you in their own unique ways

We stayed three weeks with Anne, Gio and all the lovely animals at the sanctuary and absolutely loved it. If you like animals and physical outdoor work, this is the place for you. It was so interesting to learn more about rescue work and to see how much Anne improves the lives of the horses at the sanctuary. Our main tasks were feeding the horses, cats and dogs, mucking out pens, clean the communal area and watering the plants. Some tasks vary from time to time depending on what needs to be done, but Anne is very clear about the work and the hours are the same most days, which is really nice as you can plan your day and get into a routine easily. The work can be tough, especially on hot days, but the tasks are simple to understand and we found it very enjoyable. The food is great and we loved sharing meals together and cooking some ourselves. On days off there are a lot of nice things in the area to explore by bus or taxi and the town Diriomo is nice as well and has a great lunch spot. We miss cuddling all the animals already, every one of them has their own personality and it’s so nice to get to know them and spent time with them. Thanks Anne and Gio for a great stay, for the yoga mornings and the patience during Spanish lessons :) The animals are so lucky to have you and the sanctuary where they can finally enjoy their lives and be safe. We would absolutely recommend this workaway to anyone who wants to do some meaningful volunteering and likes to be around animals.

Melinda made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Her garden is beautiful and very well cared for. It was wonderful to work in it whilst I was here. From weeding, mixing soil, watering, harvesting and mulching. I also helped Melinda organise and run day to day errands. I loved being able to help in this way. It was such a joy to eat and help cook with fresh vegetables and fruit from the garden. I really enjoyed chatting over dinner and cups of tea with Melinda. The garden is a very tranquil space to relax in and a beautiful beach is only a short distance away so my time off was usually spent in one of these places. Thank you for being so kind, I’ve left with a wealth of knowledge on gardening, cooking and all kinds of things☺️

It was a pleasure to have Oceane and Agathe stay with us on Macleay Island. They were a great help in the garden and moving logs and timber around for us. We are not vegetarian but were able to enjoy wonderful vegetarian meals cooked by Oceane and Agathe. We now have some great cooking tips and recipes :) All the best in your future travels.

We stayed at Oliviers place for 8 days in December and had an absolute wonderful time. The Property is huge and the house for workawayers is really nice with a big kitchen and bathroom. The Hospitality was unmatched for a workaway. You should just be aware that the place is very remote so better come as a couple. The work is purely self organised and you can choose your tasks and workhours. We worked on the garden, a little of bit painting and repairing. In your freetime you can pet the horses, take long walks around through the forest and just relax in a super quite and idyllic atmosphere. The bad experience that was mentioned by the other workawayers didnt happen to us in the slightest. Olivier was an awesome host and communication was always easy. totally recommend if you are looking for a place to slow down and enjoy nature.

We had such a wonderful time volunteering at this place with Chamo and Anita! We originally planned to just stay for one week but with such a welcoming and homely feel we ended up staying for two. Chamo and Anita are some of the most generous people we have met - showing us to local places, Anita always cooking amazing food for us, Chamo helping with our Spanish (and having lots of patience). The work is very reasonable, mostly in the mornings helping with room changeovers and cleaning other things that they need. The homestay is beautiful and is located in a lovely and safe area of Arequipa, with just a 25 minute walk into the centre which was perfect. We really loved our stay and we hope to return one day to a place that feels like a home away from home!

The opportunity to take part in this volunteering came unexpectedly and without even thinking about it, I decided to go. And it was the best choice I could have made. As soon as I arrive Martin and the other fellow volunteers welcomed me in the family very warmly and it was clear it was such a good place to be. I really admire what the Fundacion does, it is such a good and vital project (we need more like these!) for supporting the community there and I am very happy I got the chance to see what they do. Even though there were no students when I arrived, I had to help with the maintenance of the place by doing various activities related to gardening, recycling, cooking, and whatever needed to be done. I learnt so much! I had the best time there and I wish one day to go back and stay more and take part of all the activities that Martin organizes with the local people and kids. Thanks to everyone who made this adventure incredible and I wish all the best to the Fundacion, hoping for it to become stronger and stronger to help more people in need!

Volunteering as a yoga teacher at this place in October 2024 and January 2025 was an unforgettable and deeply enriching experience. Nestled in the jungle, the location provided the perfect setting to settle into a natural rhythm of teaching morning yoga and surfing at sunrise and sunset. Surf sessions were sometimes shared with guests or locals, and at other times enjoyed alone in the quiet of the morning — moments that felt peaceful and grounding. During my stay, I found a nourishing balance of wholesome food, movement, and sharing my yoga practice with passion and presence. I am profoundly grateful to the staff and locals for welcoming me so warmly and supporting me throughout my stay, including helping me learn the local language and introducing me to delicious Sri Lankan cuisine. The dogs were a joy, often resting nearby during classes and adding to the calm, gentle energy of the space. Guests shared wonderful feedback about the yoga sessions, the location, and the accommodation. Even while expecting a baby, Mahalia was always present by phone, ensuring everyone’s well-being and keeping everything running smoothly. Although we never met in person, her calm, nurturing energy was deeply felt. I am sincerely thankful for the opportunity to teach at this place and wish Mahalia and her family continued joy, health, and abundance. I highly recommend this place to both workawayers and guests With metta Ste 🙏

Both of these guys have been very handy in the garden and very kind with all the animals!! They took care of them while we were out on vacation, long walk with our dog, open the chickens and give love to the cats... Everything was perfect. Thank you and we hope to see you in the future!!! All the best

We had a good time at Jorge's- the team are friendly and you have a good opportunity to practice your Spanish. The hours are not very clear, which can be great for some people as there is a lot of flexibility and freedom. The project is definitely more about trying to make it a clean space, and sorting the products and spaces for their shops, which sells stuff imported from Indonesia. So if you happy with this, and not really participating in a sustainability project as described, it might be the place for you. Also there are limited food options around so bring some snacks and toilet roll from Pichilemu! However we eventually found some yummy food trucks on the point which are good and cheap. The house is beautiful (even if it is not the cleanest) and has great access to the beach, alongside the bikes and surf equipment which Jorge will let you borrow which is lovely! Thank you Jorge!

Haruka and Ai were very respectful and hardworking. They showed initiative in going the extra mile on all house cleaning jobs around the property including mowing lawns and weedeating. Marshall my dog loved their company and he spent many of his twice a day walks with them. Can fully recommend the girls.
