Perched atop Mahankal Hill in Nagarkot, our hotel has one of the best views of the Himalayas. We were one of the first hotels in Nagarkot and our location is unrivaled. There are no cars to be seen once you climb the steps, nor anything to distract you from the sublime vistas that Nagarkot has to offer.

The workers here are practically family. Many of them live on site. We have a restaurant and full kitchen that cooks a variety of Nepali, Indian and Continental dishes. By night we all hang out in the restaurant, where we swap stories, play chess and jam out on the guitar and drums. (Musicians are welcome!) Being a hotel means we get to meet people from all over the world, from all walks of life.

Nagarkot has a lot to offer. The first thing you'll notice is the nature. People from all over the world come here just to see our fantastic view of the Himalayas. Eight of the worlds top ten highest peaks are visible from here. All around you you'll find rolling green hills and deep blue valleys. There are few people living up here so the air is clean and crisp. Nature trails are only a few minutes away by walk, as is the market where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

Culturally, Nagarkot is alive and well. People here live simply, modestly. The restaurants here (including our own) don't prebatch anything. All of it is made just for you. When you walk down the street and enter a restaurant it's common to have an elderly Nepali woman cook your whole meal from scratch. It may take some time, but the end result is traditional, homecooked Nepali food. Trust me: it's well worth the wait.

Although it might feel like you are at the edge of the known world, Nagarkot is ideally situated just a edge of the Kathmandu valley, which means it's easy to visit the adjacent cities. Baktupur, one of the cultural hotspots in Nepal, is only thirty minutes away.

Our place is also filled with good vibrations. It's not your regular hotel, and the term hotel is almost a misnomer. It's really it's own little world. There are three small buildings where private rooms are located, four yurts and a large eco-dome. There is a generous amount of space between each building, and the whole compound is surrounded by towering pine trees, and other vegetation. We have fire pits, outdoor couches and, at the crest of the hill, our own temple--perfect for meditation. All of these features make for a peaceful, relaxed environment. After a few days you'll find that you're mind has quieted. That the clean mountain air and majestic views have calmed your mind.

Of course, our hotel is not for everyone. We do not have high-speed wifi throughout the entire compound. In the restaurant we have wifi, but it does not extend to the rooms. If you are constantly on social media, or if you are an extremely energetic person, the slower pace of everything is probably not for you.

Since we are at an altitude of more than 2000 meters, it also gets cold at night. It almost never snows here but for some people the cold weather is difficult. We provide electric blankets, water bags for sleeping and have hot showers, though there is no central heating except for a fireplace in the restaurant. Our Canadian friends mock us sometimes, saying that this is not real cold but if you come from hot places like Florida, Italy, South America, etc... you might feel cold when the sun goes down.

I would end by saying that we are looking for positive people with good energy. Those with bad energy do not last long up here. It is too peaceful for them. If our little paradise sounds enticing to you please shoot us a message.

P.S. If you can sing or play any musical instruments let us know. That's always a bonus.

A one bedroom yurt with a double bed. (It looks like a cool wooden tent). The toilet and shower are outside. There is a power outlet and a light in the yurt, but no furniture. It feels like camping.

Our restaurant will make you meals three times a day. We have Nepali, Indian and Continental dishes.

It is a simple life here. Ideal for reading and writing. We have a car that can take you to Baktupur and Kathmandu for a small fee. You are free on your time off to explore the various trails that surround the area. There are many treks nearby as well, if you go further away.
