Beschreibung
We are a group of five friends who share a small mountain hut in the Italian Alps, above Talamona, in Valtellina.
It is a simple, rustic mountain house where we spend time with friends, nature and the normal chaos of living together as a group.
We don't live there, but we visit on some weekends during the year. Each summer, we organise a very short period when we are all there and host volunteers and create a small temporary community. We usually host only for two one-week periods during summertime. The stay is normally from Sunday to Sunday. We do not host for two weeks in a row, because the experience is intense for everyone and we prefer to keep the group well organised.
For this summer, the possible weeks are:
Week 1: 27 July - 2 August
Week 2: 3 - 9 August
Please contact if one of these weeks can work for you.
The place is very rustic. There is a dry toilet, limited electricity, unreliable phone signal, simple shared sleeping spaces, insects, spiders, mice, dust, smoke, mud, rain, cold nights or very hot days. Sometimes all of these happen in the same week.
This place is best for people who enjoy simple living, communal life, nature, children, shared meals, practical tasks and a bit of adventure. It is not the right place if you need comfort, privacy, perfect cleanliness, constant internet, or a very predictable routine.
We like people who are curious, practical, independent, respectful and able to adapt to a group. You do not need special skills, but you do need the right attitude: helping with daily life, noticing what needs to be done, sharing space respectfully, and accepting that mountain life can be tiring, messy and unpredictable.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
The main exchange here is the experience of living together in an Italian alpine hut as part of a mixed group of locals, friends, children and international travellers.
You can practise Italian or English, share recipes, cook and eat with us, learn about Valtellina and mountain life, discover how a shared hut community works, spend time with children and families, exchange music and stories, and experience a slower and simpler way of living close to nature.
You may learn practical things about simple mountain living: how to organise food and water with limited resources, how to live with a dry toilet and basic facilities, how to adapt to weather, how to share small spaces, how to cook for a group, and how to participate in a communal rhythm where everyone helps.
For us, cultural exchange is not a formal class. It happens while preparing lunch, carrying groceries, washing dishes, walking in the forest, playing with children, speaking around the table, or sitting together in the evening after a long day
Projekte mit Kindern
Dieses Projekt schließt möglicherweise den Umgang mit Kindern ein. Mehr Informationen findest du in unseren Verhaltensregeln und Tipps hier.

Arbeit
The Workaway exchange is focused on daily life and light shared tasks around the hut. Typical help may include cooking, washing dishes, cleaning and organising common spaces, helping with supplies, light gardening, taking care of the outdoor area, helping keep paths tidy, playing with children, helping with creative activities and supporting small eco-friendly routines such as water use, waste separation, compost / dry toilet habits and general care of the place.
We work as a group and adapt each day according to the weather, the people present, the group energy and the practical needs. We do not expect any skill, what matters most is willingness to participate in the group and respect the place. Some days may feel more intense, and other days may be lighter. We try to keep things fair, informal and human.

Unterkunft
Everybody sleeps indoors in shared spaces, on mattresses or camping mats. We can provide bedding and blankets. Please expect snoring, bags around, people moving, children, dogs, and a very informal mountain-house atmosphere.
We, as hosts, will be present all the time to work on the mountain hut and to facilitate the exchange for workawayers.
The place has a dry toilet and very simple washing facilities. The shower is very basic and water/electricity must be used carefully. Phone signal is not reliable and internet access is limited.
We provide food and usually cook and eat together. Meals are an important part of the experience. We are happy to adapt to many dietary needs, but please tell us clearly in advance about allergies, intolerances or important restrictions.
Please bring proper shoes and clothes for a mountain environment. Weather can change quickly: it can be very hot, cold, rainy, muddy or windy.
Was noch ...
If you come by car, please tell us before: the final road is steep, narrow, rocky and not suitable for all vehicles.
The closest train station is Morbegno, approx. 40 min driving. You can reach Morbegno by train in about 1 hour and 40 minutes from Milano Centrale. We organise pick-up from Morbegno station during the arrival day.
We ask volunteers to arrive during the weekend, normally on Sunday, and to leave the following Sunday. We are flexible with exact times during the weekend, but we cannot manage random arrivals and departures during the week. In case of emergency, we can drive you back to Morbegno at any time.
The maximum stay is one week. We do not accept two-week stays.
During free time, you can relax or visit the surroundings. Please, keep in ming that the closest village is approx. 1 hour hiking down the mountain.
