Hello, we are a Scottish / Irish family living and working on our organic farm on the limousin / potiou charente border. We moved here in 2009 to live the dream, but finding enough time to move our projects onwards IS difficult and would love a extra pair of hands to help out with whatever skills they have or to be willing to learn a few new ones.
We are a 320 hectares, organic mixed farm. It consists mainly of limousin, and monbelliard cows. Texel and "just sheep" sheep. We grow our own cereals (wheat, triticale, oats ,sarrizan (buck wheat), maize and sunflowers) . We also have a few small ponys, but they are for fun!
We live outside a village, which has a restaraunt, shops, doctor, bakers, school, agricultural garages, wood yard, hairdressers, so not too sleepy, but rural in the sence that the pace of life here is slower, but able to enjoy the lifestyle that a French rural community offers, local fetes and farm producers markets, outside activities.
We have two girls, 11 and 9 and two boys, 7 and 3, all are bilingual and the eldest girl speaks German too if this helps! We ( Tom and Angie) mainly speak English at home, but are willing to speak French hopefully enough to enhance / practice language skills for you and for us !
Although we try to utallise all our own produce, we do not only eat organic food.

To be enriched and enjoy rural France and all its quirky ways. Practical application of a foreign laungage. Building knowlage and experience of life on an organic farm.
We are looking for general maintinence and help in the farmyard, putting up new fencing and to help keep the farm/ garden tidy. Mowing the lawn on a ride on tractor, trimming trees.
There are two small houses which we would like to renovate as time and budget allows, therefor any building and / or DIY skills would be benificial.
Any help will be greatly appriciated, as would preparing meals and general household chores, from time to time, only if you want to, or if you can cook better than Angie!

Two double bedrooms mobile home, with extra sleeping area in the sitting room if needed. Please note, at presant the shower/ bath within the main house must be used, unless you can fix the hot water system in the caravan!
Within the village there is many outdoor activities, horseriding, river rafting, rock climbing, forest zipwire, scrambler biking, sailing catamarans (on the lake next to the farm) . Slightly further away is an excellent motocross track.
The main town of Montmorillon is a book town, has beautiful architecture, and walks around the old town are a must. It is also being developed a school for catering, cooking, fine dinning and wine appreciation which will accommodate over 500 students. Indecently the Tour de France is passing through it and ending just past the farm road this year (2016).
The country walks near the farm are beautiful and we can provide the use of bikes for you to explore on your time off. We are also happy to take you to the train station in the village or in the two towns on either side of the farm to enable you to explore further afield. Potiers is home to "The" futuristic park, well worth a visit, or Limonge is famous for its china. We are more than happy to be a base and be flexable with times enabeling you to see as much or as little of France as you wish
