Help with gardening and small DIY tasks in the small, touristic town of Opatija, Croatia

  73 years old woman, living in a beautiful spot by the Adriatic sea in the house that used to be filled with people and pets. My sons come and go, my husband gone on the other side of the life...Sounds as I am lonely but I am not really since I worked in the school as a teacher and have a bunch of my ex- students visiting me. What I do need is help with my big but neglected garden. Well, fences and other items on the house are neglected as well so...I need help! Offering humble accommodation for 1-2 persons and 3 vegan/ vegetarian meals per day. Also - I don't drive so local trips would be by foot or local transport. Yes?

  Opatija is rather small, touristic town, that is pretty sleepy through the winter months and too crowdy in the summer ones. One interested in ecologic work could contact local NGO or NGO working with disabled youth. Nearby Opatija, there is bigger town Rijeka with much more possibilities to connect and learn. I personally am very interested in people generally and eager to listen or share life-stories.

  Arbeit

  Primarily gardening but if the volunteer is a handy man or handy girl then some mending the stuff around house or in it. As I don't have those skills I'll be cooking while they are working. I will provide tools, of course.I expect volunteer would work 3-4 hours per day.

  Unterkunft

  There are few possibilities, depending on who is coming. If the couple is coming , they can have separate accommodation. If one volunteer, he or she can have her/ his own room in my apartment and share bathroom with me. The kitchen is my kingdom but I will share it too. It's only that I don't want meat products in my fridge or on my stowe. I do offer 3 vegan or vegetarian meals daily.

  Was noch ...

  If I was to come in Opatija as a volunteer, I would for sure walk all 16 km of the path by the sea. Hiking on the mountain Učka or visiting bigger town Rijeka too. There are local buses for those destinations and also free city bus that drives through Opatija each 45 minutes and one can hop on, hop off. As for house rules: no meat products and no heavy drinking or drug abuse, please 😊
