  Our community farm provides space and mentorship to individuals and families that want to keep the making of food and traditional skills a part of their lives. Music is woven in daily. We share gardens, animal husbandry, hand skills and finished crafts. Courses, events and workshops are ongoing.
  Our community of families has truly benefitted from access to nature and landscapes free of city noises.
  Our boys all play traditional Old tyme fiddle music so our lives are enriched daily with music as well. We host monthly fiddle jams with pizzas made in the cob oven, combining music and good food in nature: heaven on earth ;)

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  We have been living a low waste/sustainable lifestyle here in our straw bale home for over 12 years now. We share these skills and knowledge with our community. Kevin is a good builder and Maryann a good cook and basklet weaver. She also teaches wool spinning, soap making, fiddle and piano.
  As a family we have traveled quite widely and enjoy the dinner table conversations that result from a broad world view. Think globally , act locally. Our four boys come and go with only one living at home but two live nearby, also in community , and host community events for young folks as well. Their music will inspire you to dance, if not play!

  Arbeit

  Our guests have always become part of the family. We share chores in the morning, including milking of one cow and numerous goats . This often leads to cheese making as the bounty is relentless :) Afternoons see us either in the gardens or building feeders or gates in the Garage. Our family music community includes many events that we host or volunteer . Most of our food comes from our backyard so. .... dishes :)
  We have no extra produce to to sell other than experiences and workshops so you would be participating as a student if you wish but not as a facilitator/teacher. There is no business related help required, just farm chores and participating in the family activities.

  Unterkunft

  We have two free bedrooms with shared access to a bathroom. We share meals, cooking and cleanup. Food comes from our garden or freezers.

  Close by there is Elk Island National Park for evening wildlife viewing. We have a canoe and kayak which get taken out periodically to the nearby lakes and North Saskatchewan River. We volunteer with the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and they appreciate any extra volunteers we can bring them. We attend fiddle camps and dances and contests as much as possible.

  We have a decent but not excessively fast internet service. I'm told its great for writers as most of that is done offline and the submissions are not taxing and can be done in less busy times.
