Vom Workawayer (Sarah) für Host
It was my first experience of doing work and travel. I had to find something spontaneously and was happy that I found something with Josi. I couldn't have imagined my first experience, to be better. It was very varied. Especially the fact that I was able to live in her apartment but also in her cabin in the forest. The apartment was small but I
… read more live as a minimalist too. So anyway was perfect. The experience in the cabin far away from civilization was also awesome. And also Josephine is a great host. Marcie is a very easy-caring dog. You feel so welcome and can talk about everything. Like girls' problems or similar interests! Even my English wasn't that good. My gratitude cannot be expressed in words. I can recommend it to everyone!
Hey Josie and workawayers! My experience at Josie's cabin was amazing! I really felt the wild and the adventure experience I wanted. The woods near the cabin are magic, they remembered me the Frozen movie, it was sooo cool!! I loved walking in the uncontaminated nature of those woods until the sundown (at like 1am, it was a full shock but so
… read more cool!). It's still strange when the night comes at 9pm here in Milan... I really loved the "forced" uncomfort we lived in the cabin, it's such a cool (and for me a craved and needed experience, it made me grow and mature) and the other workawayers were simply amazing, we were such a cool group!
I'm not gonna lie Josie, the feedback you wrote about me made me sobbing; I appreciate so much this adventure and the patience you had with me, even when i messed things up (like using the axe for the tree in the woods, I'm still sorry because I actually didn't catch all of the instructions you said) or when I didn't fully understand your super c2 English.
I will have this month in my heart forever, my only regret is forgetting to sign the book you have in the cabin, if you want you can do it for me :)

Elena stayed with us for about a month, and it was amazing to see her jump into every task with enthusiasm and a great attitude. This was her first solo trip and she showed impressive levels of self-sufficiency and independence! Elena quickly picked up new skills and wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. She worked hard in the garden and even

Elena brought a lot of fun and creativity to our time together. Whether she was making some delicious meals, sharing stories about her travels, or diving into endless conversation about life, philosophy and music, she was always a joy to be around. She’s got a great sense of humor and a real passion for learning new things, which made every day interesting.
If you’re looking for someone who’s hardworking, eager to learn, and brings a lot of positive energy, Elena is a fantastic choice. She’s quick to pick things up and puts her heart into everything she does. Having her here was a pleasure, and I’m sure she’ll be a great asset to any place she visits next!
Vom Host für Workawayer (Kate)
Having Kate around was an absolute delight from start to finish. She handled every task I gave her with such care and competence, from cleaning up the garden at my cabin and processing a ton of wood to painting cabinets with a perfect finish and later learning how to use my circular saw to make perfect cuts for some furniture we were building. She

One of the things that really stood out about Kate was how proactive she was. When we moved back to my apartment in the city, she didn’t just sit around waiting for instructions—she constantly found fun things to do for herself and discovered so many small ways to help out, often without saying a word or seeking any recognition. It was such a relief, especially during my busy workdays, to have someone who not only took initiative but also suggested new ways to contribute. I truly hope none of her efforts went unnoticed because they made such a big difference.
But beyond her incredible work ethic, Kate is simply a wonderful person to be around. She’s warm, friendly, and has this natural ability to connect with everyone she meets. All the other workawayers absolutely loved her, and it’s easy to see why. Kate noticed how quickly we went from strangers to friends, but that’s truly a testament to who she is—someone who makes it easy to build connections and create meaningful relationships. Her great sense of humor, thoughtful nature, and positive energy make her a joy to be around. By the end of her stay, it was hard to believe we’d only known each other for such a short time because it felt like we’d been friends forever.
If you have the chance to host Kate, don’t hesitate. She’s hardworking, proactive, and an absolute joy to be around. I can’t recommend her highly enough, and I feel so lucky to have had her here! She’s truly amazing, and I miss her already.

My last few days were spent with Josie at her Oslo apartment, and were an absolute blast. She is super thoughtful and kind, and genuinely wants you to be able to make the most of your trip. By the end, it was weird to think only 18 days ago we were strangers, yet now we seem to have be able to chat and have a giggle about everything! Vom Host für Workawayer (Katja)
Having Katja stay at my cabin was one of the best experiences I could have hoped for. She’s not just incredibly hardworking, but also one of the kindest and most caring people you’ll ever meet. Her dedication to getting the job done, even when faced with challenges, was nothing short of inspiring. For instance, when my lawnmower broke down, Katja
… read more didn’t hesitate—she grabbed garden shears and cut the entire lawn on the trail to my cabin by hand. That’s just the kind of person she is—determined, resourceful, and always ready to tackle whatever needs doing.
Katja also put in an amazing amount of work in the garden, cutting and processing wood, building a shelter out of branches, moving huge amounts of soil, and generally cleaning up and transforming the space. Her work ethic is unmatched, and she did it all with a smile and a positive attitude that made every day brighter.
But it’s not just her work that stands out—Katja has a heart of gold. She took such wonderful care of my dog, Marcie, who absolutely adored her (and it’s not just Marcie—everyone who met Katja felt the same way!). Katja’s kindness and warmth made her an instant favorite, and I truly wish she could have stayed forever.
She ended up extending her stay, and I’m so grateful she did. Having her around was an absolute joy, and I can’t express enough how much I appreciated everything she did. She’s not only an incredibly capable and hardworking individual but also a genuinely wonderful person who brings positivity and kindness to everything she does. I can’t recommend her highly enough!
Vom Host für Workawayer (Nora)
Having Nora at the cabin this summer was such an amazing and positive experience. She jumped into every project with enthusiasm and a remarkable level of skill and attention to detail. On top of that Nora made some absolutely delicious food for us!
But what truly made Nora stand out was her warm and engaging personality. She’s the kind of person who brings great energy to any situation, whether we were working on a project or just hanging out and chatting. We had some really interesting conversations, and it was clear that Nora is someone who loves to connect with people in a meaningful way, not only with me but also every other workawayer (and occasional local) she met. Her curiosity and insight and fun personality made every interaction with her a pleasure.
Nora also took amazing care of my dog while I was traveling. Knowing Marcie was in such good hands allowed me to enjoy my trip without any worries. She’s incredibly reliable and has a natural ability to connect with animals just as she does with people.
If you’re looking for someone who’s not only skilled and hard working but also a true delight to have around, Nora is the perfect choice. Having her here was an absolute joy, and I can’t recommend her highly enough!

If you get the chance to host Luka, don’t hesitate. He’s not just an incredibly capable and independent worker; he’s also the kind of person who turns a workaway experience into a great time for both host and other workawayers. I can’t recommend him highly enough!

Where to begin... My second workaway and first solo trip. I started as a workawayer and left as friends. I spent 16 days with Josy between her flat in Oslo- converting her campervan and cleaning the flat for air BnB, giving me a chance to explore the city before heading into the forest to stay at the cabin sanding down walls and building shelves.

Josy always kept the cabin well stocked with food- we were spoilt! She not only welcomed us into her home but then left us alone at the cabin while she ran errands in Oslo- I was honoured to be so trusted in her cabin and I truly intend to stay in touch and catch up with Josy in the future.
You the best, gal!
