Hi there,
I am Jocean, my wife Ayu & I run our guest house and farm, an hour or two South of Jakarta, where we make great food, & treat people right. We started the farm to try and do something good while the forest grows back around us, and to make something beautiful, and productive, for my children, and the small community on the mountain, we're a part of.
We are an educationally oriented, simple gourmet agroforestry project. We currently focus our production on salad greens and herbs for select Jakarta restaurants, and have a B & B / guest house to accommodate Jakarta cement refugees/paying guests, foodies, & students, young and old, people interested in reconnecting with more natural patterns of life, reinvigorating local cultures, and exploring combinations of Western and Indonesian spices. We're growing more fruits & vegetables for our guests & you to eat on the farm these days. Exchange housing will be in modified West Javanese rice barns. Ideally, workawayers would have some experience in agriculture, construction, or food production, but all hard working, willing enthusiasts of tropical forests are encouraged to contact us, we've made friends with volunteers in tech, design, literary, accounting and building fields in the past, among others...free loaders, sorry, but go to jalan jaksa saja, protecting the fair trade lovely balance of volunteering is important to us, & we take very good care of our volunteers, so expect you to make a good contribution too.
In almost all cases, we will have a minimum stay of three weeks, as we're not authoritarians, and it may take a bit of time for you to find your working niche on the farm. Any questions, let us know, hope this finds you well.
We're new to the workaway format, so please feel free to ask us questions
I hope this finds you well, please do get in touch if you'd like to contribute on the Farm.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
The exchange of knowledge, making new friends...and all the good ones, enjoy working with our team, making friends with them as colleagues, trading funny language jokes/learning, and making the world a smaller, better place. I originally ended up in Indonesia as an exchange student, so it is the logical thing to extend a similar opportunity to others, whenever we can. You will learn some Sundanese language, how to make umbrellas out of leaves, dominoes/a good card game, and other more useful skills.
Arbeit
Everyone must be useful, on the farm. We have gardens, we have guests we have construction projects & a dozen other things in process going on right now...if you have a skill that could compliment our projects here, we love collaboration, so tell us what you like to do...otherwise, there are always things to clean & weeds to pull, with laughs mixed in.

The workawayers will have an experience staying in Leuit, a rice barn, private room with a sharing bathroom. Some meals prepared independently, they can use some ingredients from the kitchen, & our farm.
We provide 3 very good meals a day for our volunteers, from our farm/as locally sourced as possible...we're listed as one of the best 5 places to eat in Java, in the most recent Lonely Planet. When there are no guests on the farm, you can stock up on ample leftovers from our family style meals, or self cater, using local ingredients/farm produce, just please be clean, and don't break anything. Was noch ...
train via bogor is the best way to get to us, kai.id, pangrango line, BOO to CCR. Late night Jakarta arrivals we arrange a car with our partner drivers, as it can be a bit tricky to get to us, first time.

We have our own dedicated receiver to the nearest cell tower, no one else shares it, and service is normally better than in our Jakarta home...though I sometimes unplug the cables/disconnect it, when I fend too many people staring meaninglessly at their screens.
Platz zum Abstellen von Camper Vans
never seen a campervan in indo though...could be funny.

We are very grateful to have done our volunteer here as the start of our first workaway journey ☺️
We love the nature, the people, the sustainability concept💚

We helped preparing for camp and got to know other volunteers who helped out. Camp was filled with laughter and great moments with the kids and crew. We were working for nearly two weeks without a day off. But since we knew about that beforehand it was… read more

Let's start from some practical work info. The key here is "being useful", the jobs are vary and they range from hospitality and housekeeping, to food/meals prep and gardening/farming (also some costruction and painting if there are projects going on).… read more
I have spent 3 weeks in portibi and it's the best way to calm down, enjoy time in nature and get to know local people. The workers are amazing and I had so much fun with them, dancing and singing while cutting the garlic. In the evening you have time for yourself or you are playing cards with Jocean in the bar and drink a… read more

The job was easy (set in the rooms, help in kitchen, general cleaning ...) and the team so friendly.
I was surrounded by such great vibes during 3 weeks : good food, nice people, groovy music.
Thanks Ayu for your sensitive and colorful meals, and Jocean for your energy and humor !
We spend only (unfortunately) 2 weeks there. During the weekdays, we helped the staff with the cleaning, construction bamboo house, and preparing the rooms for the weekend. And then the weekend, Jocean and his family come to take care of the guests. We helped as a guide to the waterfall, washing dishes, spending time with the… read more
